Critique Group

This group is for anyone interested in writing in English, whether it be prose or poetry or non-fiction. We get together once a week to listen, critique and support each other in our work. Attendees bring something they have written, six copies, printed out and no longer than seven pages, which they read aloud. They then receive feedback from the rest of the group. The size of the group is limited to 6, so that everyone is able to receive a full 30 minutes of constructive feedback including reading time. If you have nothing to read but would like to come and listen, you are most welcome too. We are an anglophone group and everything is conducted in English, in fact not everyone who comes can speak French. Please bear this in mind if you sign up.

The Dissident Salon is a weekly poetry and performance series created as an extension of the DISSIDENT Club’s mission to provide a home for dissenting voices, hosted by Alissa Leeds. Rooted in the tradition of the literary salon, it treats writing and performance as public acts that question power and challenge the systems that shape our lives. Each week features a curated performer, followed by open mic sessions open to all. Work may be presented in English, French, or other languages. Multilingual expression is central to the space and reflects the realities of exile, displacement, and exchange that define the DISSIDENT Club. The Salon is an ongoing forum for people who speak publicly and think critically through art. Une soirée impro dans ce groupe ? Voici longtemps que ce groupe consacré au management agile n'a pas eu de réunions. Je vous propose de venir à un spectacle d'improvisation théâtrale au Café de Paris, ce mercredi 22 avril. **Quel rapport avec les sujets du groupe ?** Comme pour le management dans un contexte qui change, l'impro théâtrale nécessite une écoute active du groupe et une importante capacité d'adaptation pour créer ensemble une histoire qui tient la route. Pour ceux qui ne connaissent pas : un groupe d'improvisateurs va créer un spectacle unique devant le public sans aucun texte rédigé à l'avance ni aucune répétition. Pour cet IMPROMPTU, Ekaterina nous invite à visiter "La Fosse aux filles" d' Alexandre Kouprine et "La Maison Tellier" de Guy de Maupassant. Dans La Fosse aux filles, Alexandre Kouprine propose un tableau psychologique d’une grande dureté. Il ne cherche aucune provocation, mais s’attache à montrer la lente déshumanisation des femmes enfermées dans ce système, tout en explorant la banalité du mal, la résignation subie et l’érosion progressive de toute illusion. Le regard est empathique, grave, parfois étouffant, et laisse peu de place à l’échappatoire. À l’inverse, La Maison Tellier de Guy de Maupassant adopte un ton plus léger, parfois quasi burlesque, sans pour autant être naïf. Par le biais de l’ironie et du décalage, Maupassant révèle l’hypocrisie de la bourgeoisie provinciale et souligne à quel point la maison close, loin d’être un scandale isolé, est parfaitement intégrée à l’ordre social. No one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice. The Unity of Columbus Resource Group for the Homeless is seeking compassionate volunteers who would like to help serve and uplift members of our homeless community. This group is dedicated to sharing kindness, resources, and support with individuals who may be experiencing difficult circumstances. A WiA Collective Wisdom Exchange At the start of this year, we gathered to look back, set intentions, and imagine the next chapter. This is the follow-up. Not a check-in. Not a progress report. A small, facilitated circle to reconnect with what you said mattered — and honestly explore what’s actually happening now. Together, we’ll explore: • What you intended at the start of this year - and what that looks like three months in • What’s surprised you, supported you, or shifted • What the next chapter needs now that you know what you know If you were at our January gathering, bring whatever you made or wrote — your word, your artifact, your intention. We’ll look at it with fresh eyes. If this is your first time, you belong here too. You’ll start where we all started: with what’s true right now.
