Parkville Toastmasters Meeting - a great place to develop your public speaking
At Parkville Toastmasters we are all about helping you to develop the skills and confidence you need to effectively express yourself in any situation. You can prepare for the next big presentation at work, for a job interview or just generally work on your confidence in communicating with others. Progressing through the sessions at your own pace, Toastmasters is the most effective, enjoyable and affordable way of gaining great communication and leadership skills. Our members are from various backgrounds, including students, professionals and retirees and we welcome all members of the community to visit and join our club. Guests will have the opportunity to participate in the improvised speaking parts of the meeting. Guests will get to watch members of all levels of speaking experience talk. Only club members can give prepared speeches as these are projects assigned by Toastmasters to help members achieve their speaking goals. Dress in comfortable clothes and bring that smile you love to share. It's important to know that Members of this Meetup are not automatically members of the club. Meetup refers to people who belong to the Parkville Toastmasters Meetup group as 'members,' but from a Toastmasters point of view, people are only members if they've paid their club dues. For further details of the club, how to get there etc, please visit our website: https://parkvilletoastmasters.org.au/ or have a look at our Facebook Page to see what we get up to: https://www.facebook.com/parkvilletoastmastersmelbourne/
Sketchy Behaviour with Roxy Rawhide (Fun Art Workshop)
Adults have basically been robbed of the right to play. Creativity started needing a purpose, a product, or at least a gallery invite. Meanwhile, it’s human to dance, it’s human to sing, and it’s human to draw, especially poorly!
Sketchy Behaviour is here to break that spell.
([Link to tickets here](https://www.trybooking.com/DIGHO))
Doors open at 6pm, settle in and get your drinks at the bar (mocktails available).
At 7pm, the night begins:
• Guided drawing activities with your host, prompts and visual inspiration provided
• Three activities/games per night a mix of collaborative chaos and solo scribbling
• Breaks between rounds to regroup, hit the bathroom, top up a drink, grab some nibbles, and mingle with fellow doodlers
It’s all about connecting through process rather than polishing a product.
Expect laughter, strange drawings, and surprising conversations. In a world drowning in increasingly polished AI art, making something imperfect is a revolutionary act.
Supplies provided.
Masks welcome.
Sharing your weird creations, highly recommended.
Come draw like a kid, laugh like a fool, and leave with memories instead of masterpieces.
Note: Pride of our Footscray is located on the first floor of a building with no elevator and is therefore not wheelchair accessible. We apologise for our reduced accessibility.

If you would prefer, you can also make use of the accommodation and come along for 3 days of riding the Creswick Trails or just to do your own thing.
Friday 10th April, Catch the 8.36 am train from Southern Cross Station to Ballarat. We'll meet in the Ballarat Station waiting room at 10 oclock and make our way to Creswick via Kingston, where we'll stop for lunch. It's approx 30k til lunch, so we won't be stopping for a coffee along the way. If you'd like a coffee before you start, please catch the earlier train (7.53am)
Saturday we'll head out to the north (this could change if the wind is unfavourable) and then over to Clunes for lunch.
Sunday we'll pack up and make our way back to Ballarat via the Creswick Trails and State Forest.
Cresfest tickets are currently on sale, so if you are interested in booking a paid event it would be a good idea to start thinking about that now.
I have booked a table at the American Hotel for 6.30 on Saturday. There is a supermarket and plenty of cafes in town to purchase food. We can have a BBQ dinner on Friday night, a short walk from the hall.
The entire town is booked out but we have secured the use of the local Scout Hall for the two nights. The Hall has plenty of grassed area to pitch your tent or park your van. You can also sleep inside the hall, however, it is a concrete floor. The hall is well equipped, with oven and hotplates, microwave, crockery, cutlery, pots pans, kettle, griller oven, fridge, tables and chairs. You only need to bring your bedding. There is a toilet in the hall but no shower. A free shower is located at a local park, a short distance from the hall.
Etiquette: Social pace. We wait for each other to regroup at key navigational points. No one is left behind with a puncture.
**RIDE REGISTRATION FORM**
The form should be available within a day or two of the ride announcement. The link to the form will be seen in the event messages when you RSVP. Please complete it when available.
**ESSENTIAL ITEMS**
Functioning headlight & tail light
Spare tube and a puncture kit, basic tools
MYKI card, ATM card/cash,
rain gear, food/snacks, etc.
• Important to know
Touring or mountain bikes only as we will be riding some loose gravel roads. Not suitable for road bikes
Bring camping gear including tent, sleeping bag, sleeping mat,
**Water**
Recommended to bring 2 water bottles due to distances between towns.
It's your responsibility to check the temperature and distance for the day and carry an appropriate amount of water. When riding outside suburbia remember that carrying too much water is better than not enough as the distances between water availability may vary greatly from the planned route due to road closures or other unforeseen circumstances.
Check your app for any changes the day before a the ride, as the ride may be cancelled in the event of extreme weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
If you cannot make it to the ride please change your RSVP to 'NO' at least one day before the ride day.
This ride is for MBTC club members, or those who have not yet done 3 days riding with. To join our club check out [https://www.mbtc.org.au/membership](https://www.mbtc.org.au/membership)
Benefits include other rides not listed on Meetup, special event meetings, social events, RWGPS club subscription, etc.
The MBTC Refund & Cancellation Policy can be found [here](https://www.mbtc.org.au/refund-cancellation-policy/).
When I RSVP for this event/activity I acknowledge that the activity of bicycle riding can be dangerous and that I may suffer loss or injury or death and I agree that in consideration of my participation in any event conducted by the MBTC that I will absolve from liability the MBTC, its officers, and any event organiser from all claims, demands, or suits whether for personal injury or property loss suffered whether by negligence or breach of contract or otherwise, save for any right I may have pursuant to the Trade Practices Act 1977 (Commonwealth) as amended. I agree that photos taken of me during MBTC rides or social events may be used for publicity purposes.
Play 3-Sided Soccer at Albert Park - mixed - social - all levels - all fitness
3 Teams. 3 Goals. Hexagonal Pitch. A game of alliance and betrayal in equal measure.
We are looking for new players and returning players alike to come play a match. Players of any ability, fitness level or background are welcomed - the game is intended to be fun for a Sunday morning rather than super competitive.
If you've never played before, that's okay - the rules are as simple as this:
* There's no offside - roam where you will
* Defend your goal at all costs
* No hands (this is soccer-style football after all)
Come down for 9:00am, we make some balanced teams and warm up for the match starting at 9:15.
Three thirds are played of 25 minutes each so we're usually done by about 11:00am. All fitness and soccer skill levels more than welcome and encouraged!
A note regarding junior players:
We very much enjoy and encourage junior players to come along and play however please be aware of the following:
* As most attendees are adults, all players must be a minimum of 1.5m tall and 13 years of age. Soccer may have incidental contact when contesting a ball, and we would hate for someone small to be injured as a result of running into someone larger than them.
* Any players under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a playing parent or guardian.
How to find us -
We meet on the astroturf pitch near the Baselball and Hockey clubs in Albert Park. The main location we use is called "Dorothy Coleman Field". If we aren't there then there may be a couple of other locations, [as noted on this dynamic map](https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=1JdDwV4AOV5e-xP5d56m16-eu29GlnZQ&usp=sharing) \- generally we will follow in number order\.
Monthly Social in the Northern Suburbs - Moon Dog - Preston
Our monthly Northern social is held at Moon Dog World in Preston. Moon Dog World is a brewery, restaurant and bar with a lagoon, waterfall, hidden tiki bar and much more!
Atmosphere is on the family restaurant side (dogs and kids a plenty!) but still a fun tropical style environment. Food is better than standard pub fare with exotic flavours and generous serves.
Fun for pretty much everyone, so come along and enjoy it with us.
Do you live in the Northern or perhaps even the Western suburbs and are interested in catching-up with like minded people? Come along for dinner and meet some friendly people.
Our group is informal and open to all. We pay for own food and drinks individually and there is no charge for the organisation of the events. It is a great opportunity to meet others with an emphasis on fun and supporting each other.
So whether you choose to come at the start for dinner or later on for drinks, we hope to see you. If something comes up and you can no longer make it, then you can easy change your RSVP to not going.
I am looking forward to catching up with those who can make it,
Chris

Data & Analytics Wednesday - The Data-Driven Brand
**The Data-Driven Brand: Using Analytics to Shape Perception**
Can you use analytics to improve tacos? This being CBUSDAW, we think the answer is probably “yes”, but we’re not sure how to implement or test this theory.
For our April meetup we’ve got Sara Kear, CMO of Condado Tacos, to investigate this delicious question. Sara will explore how she blends quantitative data and qualitative customer feedback to shape brand positioning and drive business decisions. We all know that marketing and analytics go way beyond attribution. Sara will show how Condado uses customer insights to inform product and pricing strategy.
She’ll also highlight how Condado leverages customer feedback at scale to influence operational priorities, positioning marketing as the voice of the customer across the organization. In the last 12 years Condado has gone from one location in Columbus to 52 locations across 10 states, so we’re guessing there’s more to that growth than really good guac (though the guac probably helps).
Ultimately, this talk focuses on the intersection of art and science—using data to inform creativity and build a brand that resonates with customers in a measurable way.
**About Our Speaker**
Sara Kear is Chief Marketing Officer at Condado Tacos, where she oversees brand, restaurant design, menu and pricing strategy, off-premise including catering, and customer data strategy. Since joining in 2021, she has helped grow the brand from 19 to 52 locations while building a data-driven marketing organization focused on loyalty and customer insights. Condado has since been named to the Inc. 5000, recognized as Breakout Retailer by Chain Store Age, and consistently ranked among FastCasual’s Top 100 Movers & Shakers.
