Aloha Dear Friends! Welcome to the Kowloon Mindfulness Community. Together we explore and practice mindfulness to learn how to live in the present moment. We hope to cultivate a safe space for people to try mindfulness practices such as meditation, mindful walking, and tea ceremony. ​The meeting location is at [Sacred Space Therapy and Wellness studio](https://maps.app.goo.gl/5wUBXwXE7zrZZaXu7) at Lai Chi Kok (Exit Lai Chi Kok MTR D2, go into Great Wall Factory Building. We are on the 9th Floor, Unit B5). We meet the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM. Meetings are in English (sorry, no Cantonese translation unless someone is willing to do so). It is free to join though we ask for donations, which help us cover costs and keep it open to the public. It's a game in which you never know where the next stop will be, because it’s all down to the decisions you and your fellow players make. Usually one person is the Game Master (or "GM"). Everyone else will be players, taking the role of the characters in the game. The players get to say what their characters say, think, and do. The GM describes everything else in the world. Then... we play to find out what happens. The game is a conversation: I say something, then you reply, maybe someone else chimes in. We talk about what's happening to the characters we imagine and the world around them. We also talk about the rules, which help us decide what happens next if the next step is in doubt. The rules differ from game to game: some use dice to shape the story, others use cards or something else. It's always a conversation, though.

The Humanist Monthly Program is our longest running event and still a community favorite. In the old days it used to be called "Going to HCCO" and we still like to think of it as our flagship event. We will be hearing from Becca Powell, Director of Advocacy and Outreach at Unchained At Last, an organization whose mission is dedication to ending forced and child marriage in the United States through direct services and systems change. Unchained At Last's mission clearly meshes and addresses several of our Humanist Ten Commitments. Becca will educate us about an issue many of us may not be familiar with--but should be.
