🌳 🌳 🌳 Bordée par la vallée de l’Yerres et la vallée de la Seine, la forêt domaniale de Sénart se situe à 25 km au sud-est de Paris. Intégrée au domaine royal en 1314, cette forêt giboyeuse fut aménagée pour la chasse au cerf et au loup à partir du XVIe siècle. A la Révolution, elle devient propriété de l'Etat (domaniale). Ses grandes allées forestières, dessinées pour les chasses royales, traversent de vieilles futaies de chênes auxquels se mêlent châtaigniers, pins sylvestre ou laricio. Avec ses 3 000 hectares de verdures et ses 145 km de routes, elle offre un accès privilégié à la nature à une population urbaine avide de loisirs et détente. Ce qui en fait le « monument » le plus visité de l’Essonne. Entourée par les villes, Sénart bénéficie depuis 1995 du statut de « Forêt de protection » ce qui la met à l’abri de toutes velléités foncières. It will be "mostly flat" and "easy to follow". Expect plenty of fish hook to keep the Front Runners humble and enough checks to ensure the rest of us have time to ponder our life choices. We'll hike 3.4 miles on the Killdeer and Yellowlegs Trails - both out and back gravel trails. If we want more mileage we can repeat an out and back. Pace of around 3.5 mph, no one left behind and those who want to go faster sure can! As always optional lunch after. This is the second Metro Park in the lineup for me - with 21 to go (plus more are being added).
