A G'day to all! I hope you're well. How does a laid-back afternoon sound by the Yarra River? Lunch, good company, and a nice view. The meeting place: outside the National Gallery of Victoria on St Kilda Road. To find me, I'll have a balloon in my hand, looking sheepish, but noticeable. From there, Southbank food court, a short walk. The plan: have lunch, chat, and get to know each other. It's a great spot, with people walking by, and of course the river. Then, if we decide to, the Botanic Gardens for a walk, and a cafe by a lake. The easiest way to get there is to take a tram to the Shrine of Remembrance, and then walk. The gardens are lovely and worth exploring. One more thing. The end time for this event is negotiable, meaning it is up to the group, and what we want. We will be hearing from Becca Powell, Director of Advocacy and Outreach at Unchained At Last, an organization whose mission is dedication to ending forced and child marriage in the United States through direct services and systems change. Unchained At Last's mission clearly meshes and addresses several of our Humanist Ten Commitments. Becca will educate us about an issue many of us may not be familiar with--but should be.
