Drawing from observation teaches you how co-ordinate the eye and hand, and working from the nude model is the most rewarding kind of drawing. A set of taught classes will explain fundamental aspects of drawing the figure, and give tips and show tricks of exploring the materials, methods and approaches to rendering the figure on paper. This class is suitable for everyone- from beginners just starting off on their drawing journey, to more experienced people who want to build up their skills set. Basic techniques are outlined in every class, and then more complex exercises are explored. Drawing exercises take place in an easy, informal setting. The Imposing complex of Government Buildings on Upper Merrion Street was the last major public building the British constructed in Ireland. It was intended as accommodation for the Royal College of Science. Fortuitously, it was completed by 1922. When Independance dawned, the New Free State Government moved in. Former Taoiseach Charlie Haughy converted and entirely refurbished the building to form state-of-the-art accommodation for a number of departments including the Department of the Taoiseach, the Department of Finance and the Office of the Attorney General. Tours of Government Buildings may be cancelled at short notice if they have visiting dignitaries etc. Tickets may be obtained from the National Gallery at the onsite coffee shop where the guide sets up a small table. Tickets are free but on a first come first served basis. We need to be there for 9.30am to ensure a ticket. Once we have our tickets, the guide will accompany us to Government Buildings.
