**Host's Philosophy on this event:**
The purpose of this meetup is to create a fun and supportive environment where we can improve our skills, enjoy competitive games, and connect socially. While we do aim to play seriously and challenge ourselves, the focus is more on growth and enjoyment than simply winning at all costs. That’s why the title doesn’t include “competitive” or “social”—we want a healthy mix of both. We do expect a mindset geared toward learning and getting better over time. That said, this event isn’t intended for total beginners; an understanding of the game is expected so that everyone can contribute to meaningful and engaging matches. The host holds the right to remove you from the game if they believe that you are at a C level(absolute beginner). if you can't pass to the setter for example, you are a beginner.
**Skill Level:**
1. **If you want to know your level, please see the link below:**

Waterfront Coastal Italian at Capitano DC!
Join us to enjoy the new southern & coastal Italian Capitano DC inside the Canopy Hotel at the Wharf!
Just opened on March 6, Capitano promises a seasonal, ingredient driven menu which will bring the warmth of Italy to your heart (perhaps don't mention that to your cardiologist)!
Fresh out of the box - there are not a lot of reviews readily available... so here's a sneak [peek! ](https://www.google.com/search?sca_esv=b2010e30be87c2d7&rlz=1C1MYPO_enUS1186US1186&sxsrf=ANbL-n7QF96KqINRyJzwSekLVm4IIhBMQw:1773939200381&udm=39&fbs=ADc_l-aN0CWEZBOHjofHoaMMDiKpmAsnXCN5UBx17opt8eaTX5MJRoosnbembaWTjeNSquJhopKzGFtXgl9coBQO6WPIzXQJ7xWrFSNJtPY_sN9P3Bp1JhQ8rhweG19BcJY7IX4dkk4-fK170qVf5whUF9Os5tDLUZoh7OWg-2aMM9vtkCP0U843gX20awUgkT5MJY8d_2jp7L7XBza0i01ayRbKIVkQ4A&q=capitano+dc+review&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwithJG_tqyTAxXwF1kFHTTzHI0Qs6gLegQIFBAB&cshid=1773939220667028&biw=1280&bih=551&dpr=1.5#fpstate=ive&vld=cid:29603d15,vid:ZPBrh9C_bhA,st:0)
Let's check it out and see for ourselves!
**Popville:**
Capitano blends tradition with a touch of modern ease. It’s approachable, never fussy and where a plate of housemade pasta or the day’s crudo feels just as natural with a spritz at lunch as it does with a bottle of wine under the evening lights.
The restaurant, which features open-air dining and views of the water (and maybe some cherry blossoms if we're lucky!), brings a fresh, approachable dining option to DC’s waterfront, as the concept takes over the restaurant space within the Canopy by Hilton at The Wharf. The interior is completely reimaged, with Capitano’s look and feel being inspired by the traditions, culture, and architecture of Southern Italy.
Capitano’s bright colors and traditional textures of the Southern Italian region are infused with the modern forms and clean lines of more contemporary Italian furniture design. Floor-to-ceiling windows, weathered wood, ceramic tile accents and natural linens highlight the space. The result is a seamless journey that transports the guest from the hotel’s clean and refined public space to a quaint Italian Piazza.
The Coast is calling - looking forward to sharing this experience with you!
***Check out the menus [here](https://www.capitanodc.com/menus/)***

RIO Evening Walk/Hike Around the Lake and (lite dinner afterwards) 6pm
Meet in front of Copper Canyon by the benches.
We'll do anywhere from 3-5 laps. It's .75 miles around and we usually do 3/4 laps.
For safety reasons, we’re going to keep the group to two small groups of eight members each. Sometimes it get crowded there so we don’t want to have any mishaps.
Afterwards, if we like the group will decide where to grab a bite to eat at one of the local restaurants at the RIO.
If you happen to be late, walk, counterclockwise around the lake and you should see us walking
Improv Workshop
Come join local improv troupe, the ***Home Improv Mints***, as we run through some of the basics of short form improv. Wear clothes you can move around in.
We will start at **7:15**. We will run until just after 9 pm. Bring yourself and a willingness to try new things - like (insert audience suggestion here)!
We try a different topic each session to see if it changes who sees the announcement. There might not be bobwhite imitations, hyena butter, lava floors, trans livestock, thalidomide twinkies or inflatable turnips (all things that HAVE come up), but we can promise something *random*.
But we encourage you to bring cookies. NOM NOM NOM!
We only have so many slots available. **Please don't RSVP as a yes *until* you are certain.** We limit the class size so everyone gets a chance to play, and ask for RSVPs so we know how many outlines to print and cookies to bring.
We understand things change sometimes. Please message us if things change and you can't make it, rather than being a No-Show. Multiple No-shows get you put on the naughty list and may get you ejected from the group. Please don't make us do that.
Please donate - *running* a Meetup group ain't free folks. Suggested Donation is $10/session. And feel free to bring more cookies. Everybody likes cookies.
If you're keeping track, this one will be Workshop # 3.
Hope to see you then!

AI Your Way: MCPs vs Skills vs SubAgents 🤖🚀 - Sam Basu
SAM BASU IN-PERSON; NOTE: THIS IS THU, NOT TUE AS NORMAL
Code is cheap, but software is expensive. Modern AI is a big opportunity to streamline and automate developer workflows for better productivity. There are some challenges though – AI Models often lack knowledge and AI Agents need expertise/guidance to reliably pull off complex workflows. Context is everything for modern AI and you can bring it.
Model Context Protocol (MCP) aims to provide a standardized way to connect AI Agents to different data sources, tools and non-public information - the point is to provide deeply contextual information/expertise to AI. Skills are higher-level behaviors and instructional guardrails, that define how and when AI Agents should leverage tools to accomplish something meaningful. Subagents in AI are specialized, task-focused agents designed to handle specific, well-defined tasks within a larger AI system.
In terms of the food industry:
AI Agent = Chef 👨🍳👩🍳
MCP Tools = Raw Ingredients 🥔 🥩
Skills = Recipe Cards 📝 📇
SubAgents = Sous Chef 🔪 🍳
Loops = Door Watcher 💂👀
Developer = Restaurant Owner 👑.
So, what should developers use to bring context and guardrails to make AI work their way? Well, it depends and sometimes, the answer might be whatever combination makes developers most productive. With official SDKs and well-thought-out guidance, it is a breeze to work with MCPs, Skills or SubAgents. Developers could bring their own data, APIs, services, coding patterns and structured guidance to make AI Agents work their way. And AI Agentic workflows work the same way in IDEs or Terminals, paving the way autonomous ways of getting work done with AI. With contextual expertise to light up unique coding workflows, AI Agents can make developers ultra productive – upwards and onwards.

Humanist Program
The Humanist Monthly Program is our longest running event and still a community favorite. In the old days it used to be called "Going to HCCO" and we still like to think of it as our flagship event.
We will be hearing from Becca Powell, Director of Advocacy and Outreach at Unchained At Last, an organization whose mission is dedication to ending forced and child marriage in the United States through direct services and systems change. Unchained At Last's mission clearly meshes and addresses several of our Humanist Ten Commitments. Becca will educate us about an issue many of us may not be familiar with--but should be.
Food and drinks will be provided at the event. Feel free to show up a little bit early to hang out and talk.
Going forward our meetings will be hybrid. You can meet us in-person or attend online

What If Your AI Could Be a Team? - Chad Green
**Important time note:** Please plan on arriving between 5:30 and 6:00 as the elevators lock after 6 and you'll need to message us and we'll need to come get you.
The building address is 4450 Bridge Park
The entrance is 6620 Mooney St, Suite 400
You will need to scan your ID at the door to get a visitor badge.
**Abstract**
GitHub Copilot is powerful, but what if you could scale from a solo AI assistant to an entire team of specialized agents working in parallel? This session introduces Squad: an open-source framework for multi-agent orchestration that lets you define teams of AI agents with specific roles, responsibilities, and expertise.
We'll progress from Copilot basics to the Copilot CLI, explore how Agents add autonomy, and see how Instructions and Skills let you customize agent behavior. Then, the climax: a live demo where a Squad team of 3 agents (Lead, Developer, Tester) stands up and builds a working application in real-time, showcasing true multi-agent collaboration.
Whether you're new to AI or exploring how to scale your use of Copilot, this session will show you what's possible when agents work as a team.
