Ditch the old book club, where everyone has to read the same book...this is better! It works like this: Bring your own book. Come chat, have some tea or coffee, get to know your neighbors. Then we quietly read together, side by side, for about one hour, each one reading their own book, and afterwards we talk with each other about what we are reading. The usual agenda: - Arrival and introduction (~20 minutes) - ⁠Silent reading (~1 hour) - ⁠Discussion (~30-40 minutes) - ⁠Join us for a bite at a local restaurant afterwards, if you like! I am thinking of those of us who are away from home and family during the holiday season. I'm in the same position. I can't have us celebrating Easter alone so let's get together at the Easter Brunch at Nest to have our own "family time". The Nest Brunch is always extensive and varied with vegan options. It is 22.50 euros per head for food and drinks are extra. Please Rsvp if you are coming and cancel the Rsvp if you are not as we need to book a table and the restaurant will be busy so there will be less flexibility than usual. The Humanist Monthly Program is our longest running event and still a community favorite. In the old days it used to be called "Going to HCCO" and we still like to think of it as our flagship event. We will be hearing from Becca Powell, Director of Advocacy and Outreach at Unchained At Last, an organization whose mission is dedication to ending forced and child marriage in the United States through direct services and systems change. Unchained At Last's mission clearly meshes and addresses several of our Humanist Ten Commitments. Becca will educate us about an issue many of us may not be familiar with--but should be.
