A short walk (approx 3.5 miles) through Regents Park and Regents Canal in the summer sunshine. LEAFY SUBURBS, OPULENCE, MANSIONS, PARKLANDS, GARDENS, LAKES. **WALK START POINT: Great Portland Street Station** (Circle and Hammersmith and City Lines - Zone 1) WALK DISTANCE: Approx 3.5 miles. WALK END POINT: A large pub near Paddington Station WALK ROUTE: Regent's Park and Regents Canal to Paddington, WALK STOP OUT POINT: Nearby bus routes during most of the walk. **Scroll down to see Disclaimer and Notice of Risks.** ENJOY UNIQUE HEALTHY WALKS IN STUNNING GREEN SPACES OR ALONG WATERWAYS IN LONDON. Get out and about and see your city in the company of new people! Explore and enjoy London's abundant green spaces and surprising surrounding countryside. Give up the city streets for a day and breathe some fresh air. Improve your overall fitness levels and make some great new friends at the same time. Take this opportunity to visit green parts of London, unknown to most people, and that you would not otherwise have an opportunity to see. Social Event: Our walks are social walks, where the emphasis is on meeting new people, enjoying nature, healthy exercise, and fresh air. Our walks are not interrupted with running commentaries or historical lectures, although occasionally features of significance may be pointed out. As such our walks will be continuous with few stops and it is your responsibilty to keep walkers ahead in view and to follow the direction of the walk. RISKS for all walks: Please dress appropriately for weather conditions and carry a bottle of water and necessary medication. You need to be moderately fit for this walk and be able to walk for four miles without a break. In these walks we use; pavements, cross busy roads, public parkland, towpaths alongside water, other public paths, rights of way, bridlepaths, country lanes and other established paths and tracks through woodland, bush and countryside. Please only wear good sturdy shoes, preferably walking boots and take care as surfaces may be uneven, tree roots may protrude, there may be low overhanging branches and some paths are also used by joggers and cyclists and sometimes cars (country lanes). Some tracks may be muddy and slippery. On occasion wild,domestic and farm animals may also encountered. If you require insurance for these walks then you must arrange this yourself. No large dogs or small children please. Please arrive in good time to allow opportunity to use toilets at the start of the walk as there may not be any toilet breaks available during the walk. **Backabush is heading off over the late May bank holiday weekend to hike the magical region of the Mullerthal, often referred to as Luxembourg's Little Switzerland!** Cost - £339 per person in small twin share room or £409 single occupancy. Group size - 18. Accommodation (4 nights) - Holiday cabins. The Mullerthal region of Luxembourg is delightful landscape of ancient forests and rolling hills criss-crossed by fast flowing streams which cut deep and narrow gorges. The sandstone geology is peppered with caves, ravines and mysterious rock formations **ACCOMMODATION:** We will stay in comfortable holiday cabins with self catering kitchens and twin share or single occupancy bedrooms. Located in lovely little Berdorf village we are perfectly located to explore this magical region. Our accommodation is situated only 6km from the medieval town of Echternach, on a vast plateaux above the valleys of the Black Ernz, the Sure and the Aesbach forest. Today's hike leads us deep into the heart of Luxembourg's Little Switzerland and presents spectacular rock formations that fire the imagination. Monday 25 May - Section of the Mullerthal Trail Route 3. Our final hiking day reveals enormous rock formations and enchants with picturesque stream valleys and romantic castles. Tuesday 26 May - We need to check out of the cabins by 10AM. *Hiking plans may need to be altered depending on weather conditions or other unforeseen circumstances.* **DIFFICULTY:** A moderate level of hiking fitness is required to cross terrain that will be uneven and rocky in places. Hi all, cost & info below, please join everyone for a brand new fun linear, healthy, scenic, choice of a 3 mile or 6 mile walk with some brief local info along the way while meeting new friends! ***Highlights are*** a delightful scenic walk along a canal and river, a rare photo opportunity to see Fish Island with stunning derelict factories (view before it all gets knocked down), Bryant and May factory which employed over 5,000 people (Britain sold over a quarter of a BILLION matches per day), a factory full of disease and the famous match girl strike of 1888. Also see Grade 1 listed, largest and most powerful tidal mill in the World, one of London's oldest surviving industrial heritage areas, 3 Mills which made Big Brother, Fantastic Mr Fox, Tim Burton's Corpse Bride, Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Master Chef and has rehearsal studios for Little Mix, One Direction, Paul McCartney, Beyonce, Lady Ga Ga and George Michael. The only walking group in the World offering this unique experience! The individual walks have been created from an original route several miles in length (usually on average about 50 miles) where we have checked every nook and cranny, every hidden alleyway, lane, lost cobbled path, cul de sac, avenue, road or street in that area for you! It is then shortened, to give back to you a magical walk with all the best bits of 'Lovely London', voted the best City in the World for the 10th year running! Some trained COUNT volunteers work together once a month at RMH (http://www.rmhc-centralohio.org/volunteer.php) as Housewarmers (usually on the 1st Sunday from 1 – 5 PM). Some schedule other shifts at their convenience. You may try this out with less fuss by following a "Fast track" or go through the normal process. Fast track • Arrange a time to shadow a COUNT volunteer. Call Dave Nohle at 614-268-9558 (cell). • Show up and try it out. • Complete application, etc. later. Normal process • Complete an online application (http://rmhc-centralohio.org/volunteer/). • Attend orientation in advance. • At orientation you will complete forms agreeing to keep family/patient info private and allowing a background check and tour the facility. • Complete one training shift. Daily shifts are: morning 9 AM - 1 PM, afternoon 1 - 5 PM and evening 5 - 9 PM. • Schedule shifts online using the on the RMH scheduling system (http://www.volgistics.com/ex/portal.dll/?FROM=32895). The Ronald McDonald House (RMH) provides housing and meals for families with sick children. The Columbus RMH is the largest in the world with 137 rooms. COUNT has been volunteering there since May 2014. Housewarmers work with RMH guests to provide a home-like environment - greet, assist with family needs, answer phones, give tours, assist with checkin/checkout, prepare guest rooms after checkout, clean facility, laundry, restock supplies and staff the front desk. RMH Housewarmers volunteer at least one four-hour shift a month. All Housewarmers must complete an application and agree to a background check before they can be full fledged volunteers.
