Reading Club is a low stress literature gathering that meets every other Monday evening. We read through through a short short or essay at the meeting and then discuss it. Starting from Starbucks Rostery near West Nanjing road metro before we stroll to just renovated Zhangyuan. Then we pall Fun min road before we arrive at Jing'an temple. Historic Zhang's Garden reopens as a boutique destination Zhangyuan, or Zhang's Garden, opened in 1885 as China's first modern pleasure garden, but it later decayed into a neighborhood of dilapidated houses. Its former glory has now been restored in the latest round of urban renewal. Zhang Yuan, a community of hundreds of shikumen (a style featuring Western and Chinese elements) houses in downtown Shanghai's Jing'an district, reopen to the public on Dec 1 2022 after four years of protective renovation. For two hours, poets can bring and share work to be critiqued and workshopped by fellow poets. The workshop is in English, but both experienced and new poets are encouraged to attend.
