Free event with **[registration](https://wearevillage.org/en/shop/einsamkeitserien1/w04-2026/)**
Loneliness can arise when people have few opportunities to experience genuine connection with others. This is where the group comes in, creating spaces in which a sense of belonging can be actively experienced. By working together on personal topics, a social space of resonance emerges that replaces isolation with relationship and contact. Through the structured sharing of experiences, loneliness becomes visible, discussable, and therefore open to change.
Through facilitated interaction, shifts in perspective, small experiments in experiencing contact, and shared reflection, participants develop new forms of connectedness and strategies for social effectiveness. The group functions not only as a source of support, but also as a learning environment for shaping relationships. In this way, resilient connections are formed that extend beyond the individual meeting and help to sustainably reduce loneliness.
**General Information**
This group consists of a maximum of 15 participants.
**Language**: This series will be held in German. This series is open to everyone. Your German should be fluent enough to follow an event in German.
**Important**: you must commit to all 6 sessions.
**Dates**: 22/01, 12/02, 26/02, 12/03, 09/04, and 23/04.
**Closed Group**: This structure creates a supportive environment where participants can build deeper connections.

Build & Learn: Data Science with Coffee [Cohort 6 Image Processing]
📅 **Week 4 Focus: Calling LLM via API**
Each 7-week cycle focuses on a small, well-defined part of a larger system—and over time, these cycles build toward a complete, real-world project
Feel free to join at any week and we will catch you up. There is no need to be at the beginning of the cohort to build. Complete beginners welcomed!
📌 By the End of a Full Cycle, You should Have
🎯 A working project in your own GitHub repo
🎯 A small but real portfolio piece you can demo or write about
🧠 **Current Project**
This cycle’s shared project is an **image-based knowledge extraction system**.
In Week 3, we trained a deep learning object detection model (YOLO) and learned how modern computer vision models are built.
**In Week 4** we will try **LLM-based image understanding via APIs** to extract structured information from images and comparing this approach with traditional computer vision and building your own deep learning methods.

Radical Empathy – Queer Storytelling for Connection
**Radical Empathy – Queer Storytelling for Connection**
host by **Neo Seefried**
guest: **Sarj Lynch**
event for **LGBTQIA+**
**[Free event with registration](https://wearevillage.org/en/shop/radical-empathy/w07-2026)**
Conflict is everywhere: in our inner lives, relationships, workplaces, communities. Instead of seeing it as rupture or failure, Radical Empathy explores how exchange can transform conflict into queer creativity, resilience, and solidarity.
This intimate closed group of 25–30 queer participants will explore how storytelling can hold, transform, and reimagine conflict – personal and collective. We will create a space where queer voices meet – not to erase differences, but to live them and to seek new forms of connection.
**Calling in Care When Harm Happens**
In this session, we’ll explore some of the ways that our bodies react in moments of rupture, as well as strategies for how we can activate our values to guide our responses when the going gets tough . We’ll learn a simple care protocol that can be applied when painful moments arise in our relationships — whether we are the one experiencing harm, perpetuating it, or witnessing it (or, as so often happens, some combination of the three).
**Guest facilitator for this session is Sarj Lynch**, facilitator, community care organizer and co-initiator of aequa. **Sarj Lynch** (they) is a very curious facilitator and community care organizer based in Berlin. They are co-initiator of aequa (2017), aequa Workshops Collective (2020), and Berlin Collective Action e.V. (2020). Together with Bryony Beynon, they run Big Beef and Beyond — an ongoing series of trainings on transformative approaches to tending to harm in our communities, which focuses especially on conflict, harm and abuse in collective, cultural and social movement and organizing work.
**General information**
**Participant**: this workshop series is open to LGBTQIA+ people, with particular encouragement for those holding multiple marginalizations.
**Language**: Depending on the group’s needs, sessions will be held in German and/or English.
**Cost**: Free of charge, registration required.
🔵

It can feel frustrating, but you’re not alone. **[WeHanzi](wehanzi.com)** is here to support!

We've turned the entire learning experience into ***Comprehensible Input* through both simplified and traditional manga** with support for **Zhuyin**, **Pinyin**, **flashcards**, **audio**, **direct translation**, an integrated dictionary.
We also specifically design region-specific language to reflect real-life usage in both **mainland Chinese Mandarin** and **Taiwanese Mandarin**, allowing you to naturally compare and explore the differences between the two, so you don’t end up saying something that makes perfect sense in Beijing, but gets you funny looks in Taipei 😏.

FLINTA Talk Night: Career Progression Beyond the Code
🚨 **IMPORTANT: ADDRESS CHANGE**
The event will now take place at **Pascalstraße 8–9, 10587 Berlin**.
Empowered in Tech, in collaboration with Fraunhofer IPK, come together to invite you to a new **FLINTA Talk Night**: an event designed to explore and address career progression challenges, offering a space for FLINTA\* professionals to reflect, learn and connect.
⏰ **Agenda**
**18:00 – Doors Open**
**18:30 – Welcome and Intro by Empowered in Tech**
**18:35 – Talk by** **Fraunhofer IPK: *Equal Opportunities Are Essential to Innovation*.** Facilitated by Ruth Asan and Dr. Maiara Rosa Cencic.
Researchers need the space to develop their full potential in order to have the groundbreaking ideas that drive us forward. A diverse, inclusive working environment for all is not just a noble goal, but also a competitive advantage.
* Ruth Asan explains the approaches and programs we use at Fraunhofer IPK to implement fair career and development opportunities, specifically for FLINTA.
* Building on this, Dr. Maiara Rosa Cencic will introduce the technologies developed by Fraunhofer IPK – from digital twins that connect engineering, simulation, and real-time shop-floor data to decentralized data spaces. Together, we will demonstrate that equitable opportunities unlock people’s potential and that our technology turns that potential into measurable impact for industry — smarter, more sustainable, and more human.
**19:05 – Break**
**19:15 – Talk: *The Hidden Half of the Job.*** Facilitated by Anastasiia Kudriavtseva.
A practical guide on the thinking, explaining and negotiating that happens before and after the code, and quietly defines your career, and how to get better at it without losing your mind.
In this talk participants will learn:
✔️ How AI changes what “good engineering work” looks like
✔️ How to adapt your message to reach different target audiences
✔️ Tackling daily standups and complaining in retrospectives (correctly!)
✔️ Tracking your work with a WTF-notebook and progress notes
✔️ How to ask for and use feedback without combusting
✔️ How to manage your energy on good and bad days
**19:45 – Open Networking Round** (Hosted program concludes)
🍴 **Food & drinks**
We’ll have water, coffee, and tea available. **Food won’t be provided**, so feel free to bring something to eat.

Valentines Eve (Galentine's anybody?)
**Valentines Eve**: Love and friendship pair quite naturally with almost any wine. Go ahead. Give it a try at the Hilliard Wine Club Valentines Eve event. Pay no attention to the superstitious guy in the corner who keeps murmuring comments about it being Friday the 13th too.
(Volunteers with decorations show up at least 15 minutes early to set the scene for a pleasant relaxing evening. Reminder - this is also another "Freestyle Night.")
**On Freestyle night** \- just bring a bottle to share\. There is NO formal wine tasting like on other weeks\. Door charge is $10 \(cash or Venmo only please\)\. We may have some left over wines to clear out\! Glasses are provided\. Take Care\. See you there\.
**Parking**: There are several public parking lots near the Alive614 hall. Please be careful to NOT park in private parking lots. They do tow. Check Google maps to scope out your space. Anyone who is early could easily find a parking space on the street nearby. I am told that the Chase parking lot is safe after hours.
**Glasses**: …will be provided. Please note that after the wine tasting, the EMPTY glasses need to be returned to the boxes at the service table. Please do not make me hunt down your empty glass. Please be gentle, our glasses are fragile. Uh, they are made of glass!
**Food**: You are welcome to bring a snack to share. It is not required. Most people do though. If no one brings anything, there will be nothing.
**Code of Conduct**: Though mostly understood, it’s still worth mentioning. We don’t have rules per se, but we highly discourage the following topics of discussion because they are likely to incite anti-social responses - Sex, Politics, Religion. Please don’t mistake this as an attempt to limit your free speech rights but rather a guide to a place and time for appropriate discussions.
**After the lights go out**: After the last sip of wine, when we clean up and turn the lights out, if you still haven’t had enough of us, it is typical for a group to get together and go to a local eatery for food and/or drinks or coffee.
Again, We look forward to meeting new members and reuniting with old friends.
Sincerely, ***Paul Uttermohlen***,

Comedy Night + Open Mic
**Comedy Night + Open Mic + Freestyle**: We've hired a professional comedian to warm the group up for our open mic session. Members have been making me laugh for years and we've tossed around the idea of a comedy night / open mic. Well, It's time to step up and crack me up.
We'll start with Tristan Shae and a couple of his friends. Tristan is an alternative comic from Columbus, Ohio. A counselor by day, Tristan explores how comedy can improve mental health by telling jokes and stories that muse on how absurd life can be from squeaky clean topics to not so clean ones. Tristan produces the variety show Cheaper Than Therapy, hosts the weekly Problem Child Alt Comedy Open Mic at The Attic, and can be found engaging in all sorts of silliness around the city from stand up shows at The Nest Theater, The Attic, or The Funny Bone, to improv and sketch shows with various groups at various venues such as The Hashtag Comedy Club.
**On Freestyle night** \- just bring a bottle to share\. There is NO formal wine tasting like on other weeks\. Door charge is $10 \(cash or Venmo only please\)\. We may have some left over wines to clear out\! Glasses are provided\. Take Care\. See you there\.

Sincerely, ***Paul Uttermohlen***,
**Red 1 Realty**

Columbus Code & Coffee 83 @ Improving
Columbus Code & Coffee is an inclusive, informal co-working session. People of all skill levels attend, and we love it that way. Many people (optionally) bring projects to work on, and many other people (optionally) socialize the entire time. It's entirely up to you!
**What to Expect at the Intro Circle**
\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~
Near the beginning of the event (1:30 pm), we do a standup:
* Organizer announcements, updates, and logistics
Round 1 - (7 secs max):
* Your name
* What you're working on
* What you can help others with
Round 2:
* Community events you wanna plug. If none, that's cool too.
Round 3:
* Job opportunities you're hiring for OR announce that you are looking for one. If none, that's cool.
After the introduction circle, everything is self-organized! Feel free to work alone, pair up, attend one of our workshops/presentations, or mingle!
