Intégrée au domaine royal en 1314, cette forêt giboyeuse fut aménagée pour la chasse au cerf et au loup à partir du XVIe siècle. A la Révolution, elle devient propriété de l'Etat (domaniale). Ses grandes allées forestières, dessinées pour les chasses royales, traversent de vieilles futaies de chênes auxquels se mêlent châtaigniers, pins sylvestre ou laricio. Avec ses 3 000 hectares de verdures et ses 145 km de routes, elle offre un accès privilégié à la nature à une population urbaine avide de loisirs et détente. Ce qui en fait le « monument » le plus visité de l’Essonne. Entourée par les villes, Sénart bénéficie depuis 1995 du statut de « Forêt de protection » ce qui la met à l’abri de toutes velléités foncières. There are usually 2 sessions to choose from, **This 11 am - Open Session is open to players of all levels, though mainly intermediate players and below.** **If you are a complete beginner -** Talk to us first before signing up, and we can try to make accommodations and maybe have beginners-only court to begin with, with one of the organisers ready to explain all of the basics, such as serving, scoring, rules etc, as well as some pointers to help you progress. **Which Session To Choose** If you're unsure of your level, sign up for the 11am session to start, or ask us! We will try our utmost to ensure that you play with people of similar levels. **What Do You Need** Don't worry about equipment; racquets and shuttlecocks are provided, and there's no need for a badminton license or insurance.
