We try and go to a different bar every week and you can join us anytime after 18:30. **How to find the group?** \*We have an area reserved just for us so if you are new and unsure please ask any of the bar staff for the area reserved under the organisers name or if completely lost on the night please contact the event host and they'll come and find you. **How does it work?** \*After finding the group either the organiser will approach you and ask if you are looking for the meetup or you can just ask anyone "Is this the meetup?" and normally that is a great conversation opener to join the group. After that it's up to you what you make of the event. That is pretty much it. Easy right? We normally encourage people to stand as it's much easier to mingle that way. **Nervous about coming to the event?** \*While it's quite intimidating meeting a bunch of strangers from the internet we are a very welcoming group. We normally look out for new people and remember that everyone in the group has been new in the group at one point. Meeting at Malahide train station we'll walk to Swords along the Swords Road. After a short walk along the R132, we can turn right onto Estuary Road. From there we will walk along the banks of the Broadmeadow River and finishing at Duffys pub 🍺, Malahide. Please note that all walkers are responsible for their own health and safety.

As noted last week, it's now "Summer-Time" for our run, as daylight has returned, and will be with us of many months. whilst the temperatures may not yet be climbing, Storm David is behind us, and this week, the run will terminate in **Mother Reilly's in Rathmines**, which of course does have a wonderful Beer Garden, although it may be the next visit before that can be enjoyed. But never fear, it also has a welcome fireplace, and great beers to replenish after a run. Note of praise to those from the group that recently paid a visit to Berlin for a wee run around that city - Congrats to all who took part over there, and enjoyed the Beers afterwards. For newcomers, our Group Runs are great fun, safe for all, and once the run is complete, we can share a beer, have a good chat, make new friends, and look forward to the following week. State Pathologist Dr. SallyAnne Collins will be in conversation with Garrett Fagan about the history of forensic science, the development of investigative techniques and their use in crime fiction from the historical to the contemporary. The discussion will consider what the fictional pathologist Quirke in John Banville's Christine Falls gets right and wrong about the work of a forensic pathologist, and the differences between forensic pathology in the 1950's and today. The work of the State Pathologist will be explained and there will be an opportunity for questions. Dr. Sally Collins studied medicine at Edinburgh University in Scotland and specialises in Forensic Histopathology in Liverpool before returning to Edinburgh. After five years there, Dr. Collis joined the Office of the State Pathologist in Dublin as a State Pathologist. Garrett Fagan teaches literature at the Open University and at universities in Dublin and at Warwick University in the UK. He teaches the One Dublin One Book/UCD course on Banville's Christine Falls. Come assist Van Buren Shelter (https://ymcacolumbus.org/locations/vanburen) staff in serving dinners and cleaning up on the 3rd Tuesday of each month. Dinner for the women is 5-6 pm and for the families is 6:15-7:15 pm. There is ample free parking available in the shelter's lot. The recommended area to park is in green in the image above. There will be a new entrance for the time being. We are asking all volunteers to enter through the Donation Dock door, the orange mark on the image above. This door is located between the Single Adults and Family Shelter. You will see 2 large garage doors with a large green trash compactor in the center. Please head to the closest garage door to the building wall, with a ramp leading up. There, you will see a door with a sign stating instructions on how to enter the building. Please ring the doorbell, and a staff member will come and escort you into the building. If a staff member takes longer than 5 minutes, please call the front desk at 614-689-2020. This is a new process for us, and we do not want to keep you waiting! We appreciate your patience as we navigate this temporary change. The shelter needs a volunteer count the day before the event so sign-up ends Monday at 4:50 PM.
