Creative Writing Budapest
Creative Writing Budapest
**This week's venue: Beer People \| Lázár utca 7\, Budapest 1065** We hold a bi-weekly workshop to encourage creative writing where we share pieces of creative writing and solicit feedback from the other attendees. Some members also use the forum to find others with whom to collaborate, edit work, and/or brainstorm plot, themes, settings, and so forth. And from time to time, we participate in competitions, recite and/or offer material for events organized by other groups. At the moment there is no prompt for this particular meetup. Instead, writers are invited to submit something they have (or are working on) or to craft a short story specifically for the event. Of course, there's no pressure to submit something. Many participants are interested in hearing ideas, questioning the authors, and examining style and technique. Often, we explore other published works as well. The submission guidelines are as follows: 1. limit the piece to 850 words (to give enough time for any other submissions being read at the event); 2. make the text available (though you can read it aloud) for the other attendees. Many authors bring a few printed copies, others post their work in the comments of the meetup; 3. have a question in mind for the group about the submission; and, 4. If offering something from a longer work, be prepared to give a little bit of background first.

The Platonic Representation Hypothesis
The Platonic Representation Hypothesis
Humans can often move naturally between perception and language: we can look at something and describe it, or read something and form a mental picture. In machine learning, though, models for language and vision are usually trained separately, so it is easy to assume that they learn entirely different internal representations. The Platonic Representation Hypothesis argues that this may not be true, and presents evidence that different models can converge toward similar underlying representations. In this meetup, we will walk through the paper, unpack its main ideas and results, and discuss the possible implications for how we think about intelligence, multimodal models, and the structure of learned representations. Paper URL: [https://arxiv.org/pdf/2405.07987](https://arxiv.org/pdf/2405.07987) === ENTRY DETAILS === \- QR code with entry information will be available soon\, in the "Photos" section of this event page\. \- Gate closes at 18:30 \- no late entries\.

(April) Monthly Book Club: Humble Pi by Matt Parker
(April) Monthly Book Club: Humble Pi by Matt Parker
Hello everyone, Welcome to the Monthly Book Club, the discussion edition of the Budapest Silent Book Club for those who enjoy reading the same book and sharing their thoughts together. This month, we’ll be reading Humble Pi by Matt Parker a funny, surprising, and eye-opening book about what happens when maths goes wrong in the real world. From computer glitches and engineering mistakes to everyday miscalculations, the book shows how deeply our modern lives rely on numbers and how absurd the results can be when something goes slightly off. It’s an entertaining read that opens the door to conversations about technology, logic, human error, and the strange ways small mistakes can lead to very big consequences. 🕕 **Time:** 18:00–20:00 – Group discussion about the book (no silent reading hour this time) 📍 **Location: Csiga Cafe**

DevBP #15: Agent Orchestration
DevBP #15: Agent Orchestration
Building on the success of the previous events, the DevBP series is back for the **15th time** with two great talks, this time in a more private setup with smaller, curated audience. This English-language event will be held at Craft Docs' office, where we'll provide snacks and drinks to fuel conversations. Arrival is from 17:30, Announcements and agenda at 17:55, first presentations will start at 18:00. Please note that RSVPs are only accepted through [ Luma here.](https://luma.com/myxm4b4o) Spots are limited and attendance will be confirmed. \-\-\- **Why I Built Pairflow and What It Taught Me About Building with LLMs** with Gergely Hodicska aka Felhő, Co-founder of CraftHub I built Pairflow, a workflow orchestration tool, to improve how effectively I work with LLMs and to reserve my attention for the parts where it adds the most value. I’ll show how my approach to planning, delegation, testing, and code review evolved, what actually worked, and the challenges I have yet to solve clearly. The focus is not on specific models or tools, but on the mental models and first principles you can use to improve how you work with LLM-assisted development. I’ll also share the hard-earned lessons that came from this continuous experimentation. **AI-native development: What actually changed in my workflow** with Gyula Halmos, Staff AI Product Manager @Craft Docs Ltd, co-maintainer of [Craft Agents](https://github.com/lukilabs/craft-agents-oss) No frameworks, no architecture diagrams. Just an honest account of using AI agents as a primary development interface for the past year. What I delegate now that I never would have before. What I stopped delegating after it burned me. How debugging, code review, and planning shifted — and the mental model changes that took longer than the tooling changes. *** Please note that RSVPs are only accepted through[ Luma, here.](https://luma.com/myxm4b4o) Spots are limited and attendance will be confirmed. *** Come learn and connect with other tech enthusiasts. See you there! You can also find the recordings of previous events on the [@DevBPMeetup YouTube channel](https://www.youtube.com/@DevBPMeetup).

Summer Social: Let's kick off summer with Adult field day at Shadybowl! FREE
We’re bringing back Adult Field Day. Last year was a good mix of competition and just hanging out, so we’re doing it again with some new games mixed in. Think team-based challenges, simple races, and a few things inspired by game shows. You don’t need to be athletic. Most of the fun is just being part of a team and getting to know people you wouldn’t normally talk to. The goal isn’t really winning. It’s meeting people, laughing a bit, and leaving knowing a few more names than when you showed up. If you stick around after, we’ll have a potluck, a bonfire, and a couple comedians in the evening. Bring: * Please Bring Something to share for the potluck cookout signup sheet [https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0E49ABA92EA2FAC70-63781787-saturday](https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0E49ABA92EA2FAC70-63781787-saturday) * Clothes you can move around in A small contribution helps keep events sustainable and ensures those who RSVP actually show up. Include your Meetup name + event name in the note. Please send $2 per person to guarantee your spot. Payment link in comments below Include your Meetup name + event name in the note.
