Talk 1: **Here we go again: Java 26**
We'll explore everything new in Java 26!

Tuesday Padel (bi-weekly)
Join us for our regular Tuesday evening playing Padel.
**How we play**
Intermediate and Advanced Players are welcome (no beginners on Tuesday, please join us on Friday or Sunday instead).
Number of courts depends on the number of players
* 4-7 players: one court
* 8-11 players: two courts
* 12-15 players: three courts
Ideally, 6, 10 or 14 players are attending
* Then you play two matches in a row and then take a break
* A match is played in a single set. First team reaching four games wins the match. We play a minimum of six games per set (means even after 4:0 you still play two more games in this set)
If an odd number of players are attending, we adapt to the situation
Teams are mixed all the time. So you will play with/against different players during the event
* Teams are put together based on their skill level
* We focus on having balanced teams
**Price**
* 10 € for 1h
* 17 € for 2h
* If you need a racket, you can rent it from us for 2 € (limited number available). Otherwise you can always rent from the venue for 5 €
* We use the money to cover the courts rent, base-subscription for renting, providing balls and rackets
**Cancellation**
* Please cancel at least 4h before the event. Otherwise you have to pay the fee for one hour
* We understand that sometimes unexpected things can come up. However, not showing up and failing to let us know is considered disrespectful and goes against our community spirit. Uncommented no-shows may result in being excluded from future events.
**Other information**
* The venue has courts **outdoor only**. Dress accordingly to the weather
* We are respectful and warm with each other. Our cultural and professional background is diverse
* The hosts or regular players, can ask misbehaving players to step out from the court, in order to maintain the good vibes
* The hosts and regular players are entitled to send players different courts to have balanced teams
* Most of the time we go on a drink after the event at the venue's restaurant. You're welcome to join us
**Important**
* You are playing on your own risk
* Playing competitive is allowed (Smashing balls, hitting balls close to opponent player etc.)
* Playing friendly is our main goal
* Please announce the hosts, and/or the players on your court, if you have some injuries or specific conditions
* Be welcome with newcomers

Badminton for Intermediate Players (Thu 19.30h-21.30h) U3 Kendlerstraße
Hey Badminton Enthusiasts!
**This meet-up is only for intermediate players and up!**
Everyone is welcome to join our large weekly events, test their skills and have some fun together! However, ***this event is for the people that want to push their skill forward and would like to play during the week as well.***
The host will reserve courts in advance, that means please only register if you really plan to come (or cancel at least 24 hours before the event starts). The fee for this event is 12€:
If you plan on paying in cash, please bring the exact amount as the host might not have any change available
You can also pay via card on the spot
We are meeting at about 19.25 pm near the reception by the lounge area (next to the courts). Come a bit earlier so you have time to change into workout/sports clothes. The locker rooms are free to use, but for the men lockers you need a padlock - or you can also take your bag of clothes upstairs to the courts if you do not have a padlock. Also, bring clean indoor sports shoes, your racket and a water bottle with you.
If you are just passing through town and do not have a racket, it is possible to rent rackets, either from the club or from us. Sometimes the host or other members have spare rackets - please ask in the comment section below!

Without further ado - let's play some (intermediate) badminton and have fun together!
ADVANCED badminton players wanted!
Thank you for visiting this event page!
* Are you an advanced badminton player? If yes - WELCOME!
* The earlier you sign up, the bigger your chance to reserve a place - once 9 other players have signed up already, you move to the waiting list.
* Once the waiting list has 3 or more members, I will try to book an additional court, but no guarantees.
I need to close the registration 24h before the event as I will then have to decide whether to cancel any court due to a shortage of players. You can still contact me if you want to play though.
The fee per player will be €10.00 for 2 hours as the cost of both shuttles and court bookings have increased. But this should now cover also shuttles used during play.
Please be on time as a curtesy to the other players. In addition, if you are on the players' list and don't come (i.e. no show), you will be automatically excluded from this group.

Contra dance with Big Scioty April 11 - Clinton Heights Lutheran church
**Caller: Kim Thompson**
**Band: Full Moon Country Dance Orchestra**
**Clinton Heights Lutheran Church**
**15 Clinton Heights Ave, Columbus, OH 43202**
WHAT IS CONTRA DANCING? Picture the Grand Ball scenes like you’ve seen in period films such as “Pride and Prejudice”, where the dancers are lined up in long lines, across from each other. That’s English Country Dancing, the predecessor of contra dancing. Now, add moves like “swing your partner” and “do-si-do,” like you’ve seen in square dancing. Set it to fabulous, high energy, live music with fiddles, guitars, percussion and more, alá “Riverdance.” Finally, set the whole scene down in the middle of Woodstock, with a hip, groovy atmosphere, a bit of tie-dye, and hints of counter-culture attitude. THAT’s Contra Dancing!
Wear cool and comfortable clothes (you will get warm) and clean shoes that won't mark up our nice wood floor.
Be sure to come for the beginner's lesson from 7:30 - 8:00, followed by dancing 8:00 - 10:30. All dances are taught; we will help you learn! Beginners always welcome, no need to bring a partner.
Cost is $10.00 adults, $5.00 ages 12-26. Under 12 free. Free parking in church lot.
For more information contact me or check out our website: [www.bigscioty.com](http://www.bigscioty.com/)
Please bring your own refillable water bottle.
