Drum Programming in Live - NYC Ableton User Group
**RSVP on the [343 Labs website](https://www.343labs.com/events/nyc-ableton-user-group-10/) to reserve your seat!**
We are excited to bring you the next in-person NYC Ableton User Group meetup! As always, the meetup is open to producers, songwriters, DJs, and musicians of all types and proficiency levels looking to exchange ideas, network, meet like-minded producers, and learn new tips and tricks from our presenters and fellow participants.
In this special topic Ableton User Group, we'll look at drum programming in Live 12 from a beginner perspective. We'll discuss the difference between making your drums with audio samples and MIDI, when to use Session view vs. Arrangement view, and how drum programming looks different for different genres.
During the event, you will also have the opportunity to see the 343 Labs facilities, meet some of their instructors, and learn about their courses.
**This month’s Ableton User Group will be hosted by John Selway.**
John Selway is one of 343’s longest-standing instructors and is considered a pillar of the 343 community, known for his wildly popular Techno Saturdays stream on 343 TV. He is considered a techno trailblazer of his time, with a career that started in his hometown, NYC, in the 90s. He is known for his contributions to the early productions of Deep Dish, his first success as part of the seminal New York underground duo Disintegrator, his long-running collaboration with Christian Smith, and his many releases on Serotonin records.

****
**When “Eventually” Meant 11 ms:Designing Deterministic Cassandra Architectures in the Telecom Core - Thomas Elliott**
Thomas Elliott has had a 25-year career in delivering distributed software systems whose work spans early Cassandra OSS deployments in mobile core networks and modern deterministic data foundations for AI. As Head of AI and ML Systems at BioSole International, he focuses on using Cassandra to encode data dependencies that enable reproducible, auditable, and constrained AI reasoning.
Since the early days of the Cassandra Open Source project, it has been recognized as a critical component in the evolution of telecom infrastructure, particularly mobile core networks. This talk traces how early design constraints shaped architectural decisions in large-scale deployments. It is a story told across three cities in the Persian Gulf, under tight launch timelines, geopolitical complexity, and read-after-write visibility requirements that had an upper limit of 11ms.

Advanced Character Lab - for Improv Enthusiasts Who Want to Perform Live!
You love improv and you love to challenge yourself.
You’ve done the work, taken the classes, been to the drop-ins, and maybe even performed live improv in the past.
Now you want more.
But you don't want the commitment.
This is a stand-alone session with seasoned performers who are coming off of a recent sellout show!
**Here’s what makes this one different:**
* This Lab is focused on *your* improv development.
* You're stepping in with performers who have performed in front of live audiences.
* People who take this seriously.
* Who show up sharp.
* Who will challenge you in the best way
* This Lab is also a potential path to joining us in our next live Comedy Improv Show
***
**👥 What you can expect:**
* Full-length scenes with real character depth
* Work with improvisers who’ve been doing this for years
* A format designed to push your instincts, not just your timing
* Actual stage time — not exercises that keep you on the sidelines
**It’s fast-paced, focused, and built for performers who want to... perform!**
🙌 If you want in:
RSVP with your experience level.
We’re not here to judge anyone — we just want to keep the room tight and the scenes solid.
Bottom line:
If you’ve been craving reps that matter — the kind that leave you buzzing and a little wrecked — you’ll feel at home here.
This is for the ones who are ready to actually work.

Exploring Mysticism
Mysticism, which can be defined as conscious union with the Divine or Absolute, is at the heart of Rosicrucian teachings, as reflected in the Order’s name, Ancient Mystical Order Rosae Crucis. Human conceptions of the Divine cover a wide range of descriptions, both explicit and implicit.
We will explore many of the conceptions of the Divine reflected in the world’s major religions, including their explicit and implicit ideas. We will also draw comparisons to the Rosicrucian conception of the Divine as put forth in the Rosicrucian teachings.
We will also introduce findings from the new scientific field of neurotheology, which explores connections between our brain and humanity’s approach to the Divine.
Everyone is welcome!

[In Person] Book Launch Party: Agile Meets AI with Sheila Eckert
***
Join us for a special evening celebrating the launch of Agile Meets AI: A Pragmatic Guide for Modern Teams by our own co-organizer, Sheila Eckert.
After 30+ years as an agile practitioner, Sheila has written the book she has been wanting to write. It is a myth-busting, anti-pattern-exposing, practitioner-grounded guide for teams navigating agile in the age of AI.
This is not a lecture. It is a conversation. Sheila will sit down for an interview covering why organizations struggle with agile, the anti-patterns that undermine teams, and how AI changes the game (for better and worse). You will also leave with practical tools you can use tomorrow.
Books will be available for purchase and signing.
Come celebrate with us.

Future of Developer Experence: NYC
**[REGISTER ON LUMA](https://luma.com/u5c711nm)**
Future of DevEx series was first launched in New York in 2025 as part of Tech Week, and after running the event across Toronto, SF and LA, we're finally bringing it back!
This isn’t just another meetup. It’s part of a growing movement where engineers, founders, and toolmakers come together to define what’s next for developer workflows.
Join [Deskree](https://deskree.com/), [PostHog](https://posthog.com/), [Arthur](https://www.arthur.ai/) and [Grafana](https://grafana.com/) to see how AI is changing the way we build.
**[REGISTER ON LUMA](https://luma.com/u5c711nm)**

## **What we will cover**
* How AI is reshaping developer workflows
* Real-world patterns for observability, monitoring, and feedback loops
* How teams are structuring workflows to move faster with fewer people
* Where current approaches break down, and what’s actually working in production
## **What you’ll learn**
* Practical approaches you can apply to your workflows
* How leading dev tools think about the next 12–24 months
* How to design workflows that scale with AI, not against it
Come to learn, get new insights, and connect with like-minded builders.

Rust NYC: Compile-Time Solutions
Join us on **Thursday, February 26** at **Datadog Times Square**. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. to give attendees plenty of time to grab pizza and socialize, and the talk begin at 7:15 p.m. Following the success of the UnConf we've absorbed all of your feedback and have two awesome speakers!
**Robin Molen-Grigull is CTO at Fullstack.Trade** \- a stealth mode firm focused on high performance compute and latency in the Web3 space\.
**Storage Tetris: Compile-Time Solutions for 32-Byte Storage Constraints**
Fitting arbitrary Rust structs into fixed 32-byte storage slots is a puzzle, but Rust’s macros and type system make it solvable. Automatic layout and lazy loading, combined with a small macro, turn low-level storage primitives into clean .field() accessors. Associated types and compile-time offset calculations eliminate manual storage arithmetic while remaining zero-cost.
**James Logan is a Principal Scientific Software Engineer at Commonwealth Fusion**
**Interpn: Fast Interpolation**
James Logan recently delivered a ten minute lightning talk at Rust Boston. The goal of that talk was to share "Everything I learned making software 300x faster than state-of-the-art". James has used Interpn in a way like never seen before, improving performance in a way that is unimaginably unique and can be applied by so many engineers. This is definitely one not to be missed.
**[Lawrence Harvey](https://www.lawrenceharvey.com/)** is Rust NYC's official recruitment partner, with Ross providing support as a co-organizer and financial support.
The space is generously sponsored by our partner **Datadog.**
