BayState Bridge Together Online (Monday)
Please join us for a pleasant afternoon/evening of competitive party bridge.
We use Zoom for audio/video chatting during our games: see the link in the date/time/place sidebar. You may wish use two separate devices for the audio-video and for the bridge play.
Kindly provide me your BridgeBase.com username. Then, after you login to BridgeBase.com, go to "Play or Watch Bridge>Casual". From there you can receive the invitation to our table. (BridgeBase doesn't issue invitations unless you are in the right place. (And in case of trouble, it may work to back out and reenter the "Casusal" space.))
If we get more than 4 people, then we'll ask someone to stand up after a few rounds and let others play. Or have more tables!
You must know Contract Bridge rules and basic bidding to play. No formal training will be offered, but this is a social, casual event, and bidding advice and meanings will be openly discussed at any player's request.
ACBL Yellow Card (http://lexikos.com/yellowcard.htm) is our group-standard bidding system; a novice should please take time to study all basic openings and responses shown above, plus standard Jacoby Transfer (http://www.bridgebum.com/jacoby_transfers.php) and Stayman (http://www.bridgebum.com/stayman.php) responses to NT openings. We will expect a verbal alert on deviations an expert may make to these most-common conventions.
Let's practice advanced English on Zoom

MGA Virtual Go Center
NOTE: We've had 25-35 people each week at this meetup, but most folks aren't RSVP-ing via Meetup. Around half are from outside MA. Please join us, even if you didn't RSVP.

The "Natick" group is now meeting via Zoom + OGS (Online Go Server), and includes many people from outside of Massachusetts. Beginners are always welcome. It is great to host people who don't live near enough to other Go players to play in person. The Zoom + OGS experience provides 75% of the in-person experience.
During the meetup, you can:
• Play friendly games, or watch us play
• Play league games. For details about joining the league, see http://massgo.org/league/
• Join a beginners group, or get teaching games
• Join a DDK or SDK study group, generally starting at 8:30
• Have your game reviewed, or watch other reviews
• Participate in a review of a pro game, starting at 9:30, in "guess the move" format. You can watch the game on Twitch and chat there, or talk to other Go players watching the review on the Zoom. See https://www.twitch.tv/massgo
On Tuesday evening, sign in to OGS and go to the Massachusetts Go Association group (various links are posted there), or just join the Zoom. See https://online-go.com/group/45.
Let me know if you have any questions. I look forward to seeing you.
Monthly Meetup
This is now an online ONLY event! The link will be posted the day of the event. Thank you!
Because of the increase in Zoom-bombing
\* Only people who are signed up as an attendee for the event will be admitted to the meeting. So, it's helpful if you set your full name as your Zoom name so it aligns with your Meetup name. This way it will make it easier for me to see who you are when you are in the waiting room.
\* Once you are added to the meeting, please have your cam turned on. Once you are identified with your cam on, you can feel free to turn it off if makes you feel more comfortable or you want to minimize using up your bandwidth. This way, any Zoom-bomber that does makes into the meeting can easily be identified and banned.
Saturday Settlers Meetup Virtual
Welcome to the new virtual format of the Catan meet up. We use Catan Universe to play online. Log on to CatanUniverse.com and be ready to share your username with the group. If you have reached level 3 within Catan Universe, please join the Guild most of us are in called Settlers of Gotham. The most popular platform to play CU is through Steam, although some play via their web browser.
At the time of the meetup, first connect to the Zoom link provided to meet everyone. We will share our screen names on Catan Universe and start a game via Catan Universe. We will go to breakout rooms, if we have more than one game going. It is ok to join at any time. We will do our best to accommodate everyone.
If you haven't set up an account with Catan Universe, please try to do it before the meet up time as it suggests a tutorial. We recommend completing the tutorial to get gold, suns, scrolls (this will make more sense when you've been on the site a while).
I'm excited to see everyone soon!
We play Settlers the second Saturday and the third Sunday of every month . We play a mix of traditional (3-4 player) or expansion (5-6 player) Settlers as well as Knights & Cities and/or Seafarers. Newbies are always welcome. We'll teach you the game.
We look forward to playing with you!
Thanks

CABS Boardgaming Saturday, April 18th
Thanks for being a part of the CABS Meetup Group! We meet @ the COFFEE UNDERGROUND on Indianola Avenue. We play many different games @ CABS - bring your own or play one of the OVER 2000 in our library. What are your favorite games? What was the last game you played? Hope to see and game with you soon! Check us out on Facebook! Doors open early on Saturday Mornings at 10am and around 4pm on Fridays if you are interested in learning new / simpler games ... or new to the hobby or just want to check us out come in early just after noon and we will show you around before the crowd grows. Stay for a game or two, an hour or two or for the day! Your first visit is free and after that it's $5 a meeting or you can join for the year! It's Your Move
Board games at The Forge
This week is Twos-day on a Wednesday. Bring your favorite 2 player games and be ready to teach some and learn others. We'll bounce around and get to know new people and new games. Think speed dating but without the stress, romance or dating! And we don't judge, if you'd prefer to stick to bigger games by all means, go for it!
The Forge does have a full bar and kitchen. There is no cover charge but they do request all attendees to purchase a minimum of ~$20 per person. Soft drink refills are $1 each. Please support our hosts so we can continue to provide great events for the group!
The Forge has a large library of games available for us to enjoy. Hosts and regulars will also provide numerous popular games but please bring any games you would like to teach and/or play.
Doors open at 6, and we expect gaming to be rolling by around 630. Please promptly end your games and clear out the space at 10pm when the bar closes.
We encourage socializing but do not permit disruptive behavior of any kind. Thank you for your continued commitment to providing a fun and welcoming space to veteran, newbie, and rookie gamers in the Columbus area.
Parking can be challenging. There is a parking lot behind the neighboring Mexican restaurant that is free and easy to walk from but it's a bit hidden.
Casual Boardgames - make friends, then beat them in games
Welcome to Casual Boardgames, where we enjoy classic tabletop games and social deduction games while bonding over good food, drinks, and great conversations.
We started this group to meet new people and make new friends, and bonding over games in a relaxed atmosphere is a great way to do that.
We currently meet near route 23 and Polaris Parkway, and this is close to areas like Powell, Lewis Center, Worthington, and parts of Westerville and Columbus.
Feel free to bring your own games or play one of the many games our members bring. If you are inexperienced, we will help you learn.
Here are just a few examples of the kind of games we play.
Tabletop/board games: Splendor, Catan, Azul, Dominion, 7 Wonders…
Social deduction games: Code Names, Chameleon, Werewords…
IMPORTANT:
1. While we love playing a variety of games and competing, we are not just about the games. We interact and talk while playing, and this leads to a lot of laughter and fun. If you just want to compete and focus solely on the game, then this is probably not the group you are looking for.
2. Many people join groups like this and never (or rarely) show up after weeks or months. If you join and never really come, we will eventually remove you from the group as a courtesy to our members. Why? Because limiting group conversations (on the app) to regular members makes communication and planning much easier. Also, while it may be rare, it protects members from people who join because they are interested in following a person instead of having a real interest in our group. If you get removed, it is just because you haven’t come, and we follow this protocol as a courtesy to our regular game players.
