The film explores Diana Nelsons journey from Zionist youth, to actively campaigning against the apartheid state of Israel. Following the film there will be a discussion between the Diana Neslen, and two other South African Activists against apartheid and the Israeli state, Shereen Panditand Bahir Laattoe. This will be moderated by Luca Salice, Chair of Westminster PSC. This will be open to questions and comments from the audience. SPEAKERS **Diana Neslen** \- Panel Diana Neslen was born in South Africa in 1939. The formative influences in her early life were her special needs sister, the Holocaust and Apartheid. These public and private influences instilled in her a passion for justice and equality which never wavered. She bought this passion to her activism, first against South African and the against Israeli apartheid. One of her proudest achievements is her role in the departure of the firm G4S from Israel. A retired social worker, Diana states that she rejects both white privilege in South Africa and Jewish privilege in Israel. Diana is co-chair of Redbridge PSC. Dr. **Shereen Pandit** \- Panel Born in apartheid South Africa, Shereen became a Lawyer, Lecturer, political activist and trade unionist. Exiled in the UK she completed a PHD in Law, continued her activism and began writing. Much of Shereen's current political activity is centred on the Palestinian cause. She is a volunteer English teacher for young Palestinians and also for migrant workers. Her work has been widely published and been on stage and radio in the USA as well as being used as a resource in European schools. **Bahir Laattoe** \- Panel Bahir was born in South Africa where he became an anti-apartheid activist. He was a teacher and Trade Unionist who worked in one of the unions which formed the COSATU Trade Union Federation. He was also a youth, sport and community organiser in the townships in Cape Town. He moved to Britain in 1986. He began active in the National Education Union as an International Solidarity Officer. He visited and volunteered in Palestine in 2019. He continues to be a pro-Palestine activist in the union and in his Trades Council. **Luca Salice** \- Moderator Luca Salice is a translator and visiting lecturer at the University of Westminster. He has for many years been an activist with the Palestine Solidarity Campaign. He is currently Chair of Westminster Palestine Solidarity Campaign. **Helena Aksentijevic** \- Film maker Helena Aksentijević is a filmmaker and photographer. “Israel, the Golem and the Mark of Cain" is one of a series of documentary films about people who support the Palestinian people’s right to a homeland, the right to return to their ancestral lands and live lives free from Occupation, oppression, apartheid and genocide.

This is part of my series of leisurely London walks aimed at exploring and getting to know the city better. They are easy, largely flat and shorter in length than my countryside hikes. As we leave Mile End tube station, we enter **Mile End Park**, created on land devastated by bombing during World War II. It is a 90-acre linear park that runs along the edge of Regent’s Canal. Walk along **Regent’s Canal** taking in the sights. We eventually reach **Limehouse Basin**, a quiet location sprinkled with residential accommodation and boats - the River Thames, Regent’s Canal, and Limehouse Cut all meet here, each providing a green highway along which wildlife can move around the built-up area. As we follow the **Thames Path** in the **Isle of Dogs**, have your camera ready for stunning views of the waterfront and the **city’s skyline** (the Shard, Walkie Talkie, etc). Also soak in the views of the glass skyscrapers of **Canary Wharf**. We will continue along to the **Greenwich Foot Tunnel**. The tunnel sits 15 metres beneath the River Thames and is 370 metres long. It was opened in 1902 and connects Island Gardens in Tower Hamlets in the north to Greenwich in the south. On exiting the tunnel in Greenwich, we immediately come across the **Cutty Sark**, the state-of-the-art Victorian tea clipper. It was built in 1869 and designed to carry tea from China to England as fast as possible. A fashion developed among Victorians for consuming the first tea to be unloaded in London – this spurred the ‘great tea races’ and intense competition to get home first where you could command huge prices. The Cutty Sark was designed to be fast! Explore the grounds of the **Old Royal Navy College** – a cultural destination in the heart of the **Maritime Greenwich UNESCO World Heritage Site**. It is an award-winning visitor attraction and one of the UKs most sought-after film locations due to the iconic architecture of its 18th century buildings, expansive grounds and views of London. It has appeared in Netflix’s Bridgerton and blockbusters such as Pirates of the Caribbean, Thor II, and Skyfall, among many others. The Painted Hall here is the jewel, known as Britain’s Sistine Chapel (we will not be entering it as there’s a fee). You could also spend time in St Peter and St Paul Chapel (we may visit the Chapel if it's open). We end up at **Greenwich market** with its arts and crafts and food stalls. Ends at Hampstead Underground Station (Northern Line) Please allow plenty of time to arrive as trains for Hampstead Heath are infrequent from West Hampstead (Jubilee Line) to Hampstead Heath Station (Mildmay Line), trains run about every 10-15 mins We will walk through old hidden cobbled lanes, quaint old churches and beautiful alleyways in one of the most amazing, charming areas of London.
