Documentary: Amu Darya—Uzbekistan
Documentary: Amu Darya—Uzbekistan
Join us for a special screening of *Amu Darya: River to a Missing Sea*, followed by a Q&A, a powerful documentary exploring the environmental and human stories surrounding the shrinking Amu Darya River. Once feeding the Aral Sea, this great Central Asian River has been dramatically depleted due to large-scale Soviet irrigation policies, transforming what was once the world’s fourth-largest lake into the youngest desert on Earth. Through personal testimonies from Uzbek and Karakalpak communities, the film shares oral histories of an ancient ecosystem—telling intimate stories of loss, adaptation, resilience, and hope as life continues to unfold along the river that now flows toward a missing sea. Reservation details: [https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/from-oral-histories-to-action-the-story-of-project-amu-darya-tickets-1975968174000?aff=ebdssbdestsearch](https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/from-oral-histories-to-action-the-story-of-project-amu-darya-tickets-1975968174000?aff=ebdssbdestsearch) We’ll meet for a chat after the screening at the bar. Market to Market 2.0: Leisure 7miles Stroll and Lunch
Market to Market 2.0: Leisure 7miles Stroll and Lunch
Join us for a relaxed, 6 or 7-mile (10 / 11.5km) urban hike connecting two of London's most iconic craft and contemporary hubs. We’ll start amidst the crafts/antiques of **Camden Market** and wind our way through the heart of the city to the vibrant shops/**markets at Battersea Power Plant**. This is a **leisurely walk** designed for socialising and sight-seeing, not a race! We’ll be moving at a comfortable pace with plenty of opportunities for photos, if needed. Besides is nice to stay active in moderation and I personally needed a walk at weekend! A Malaysian (or non-Malaysian) lunch or even grab a sandwich in and around the park. Also easy to call-off to any nearby tube station along the stroll! If you need to leave early. Meeting point: Chalk Farm Station Exit (single exit station)

Choose Your Movie: THE SHEEP DETECTIVES vs HOKUM at Cinemark Stoneridge!
Choose Your Movie: THE SHEEP DETECTIVES vs HOKUM at Cinemark Stoneridge!
Join us as we get together to see your choice of two VERY different movies – one sweet and wholesome – the other a terrifying folklore horror! Option 1 is the fun whodunnit-action-comedy-mystery led by Hugh Jackman, THE SHEEP DETECTIVES! Option 2 is the top-reviewed supernatural-horror-thriller starring Adam Scott, HOKUM! Here’s a description, trailer and plan for this event: THE SHEEP DETECTIVES: Every night a shepherd reads aloud a murder mystery, pretending his sheep can understand. When he is found dead, the sheep realize at once that it was a murder and think they know everything about how to go about solving it. The film is directed by Kyle Balda and take a look at this ensemble cast: Hugh Jackman, Nicholas Braun, Molly Gordon, Hong Chau and Emma Thompson and the voices of Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Bryan Cranston, Chris O'Dowd, Regina Hall, Patrick Stewart, Bella Ramsey, Brett Goldstein and Rhys Darby. TRAILER: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pyZI5oM6hWk HOKUM: In this film, a horror writer visits an Irish inn to scatter his parents' ashes, unaware the property is said to be haunted by a witch. It is written/directed by Damian McCarthy stars Adam Scott, Peter Coonan, David Wilmot, Florence Ordesh and Austin Amelio. Hokum premiered to rave reviews at this year’s SXSW Festival and is being release by Neon. It is earning a stellar 97% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes, which calls it, “A classic haunted house story enriched with atmospheric folklore and perfectly-timed shocks!” TRAILER: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EVCIK_MPyhc PLAN: We’ll plan for a 7pm-ish showing of both films and will meet inside the theater lobby about 20 minutes before showtime. If the showtimes work out, we’ll try to get both groups together for a bite before the shows! Complete details and showtime will be confirmed/announced as the date gets closer. Look forward to seeing you there, Dan

It feels like we just saw each other 🤷. Join members of the local design and UX community for our monthly breakfast. For May we’re stopping in for Rooh’s popup breakfast/cafe concept. You know someone is getting the lobster yuzu croissant, and that’s not even the prettiest thing on the menu!.
COUNT RMH Housewarmer Volunteering (Ronald McDonald House)
COUNT RMH Housewarmer Volunteering (Ronald McDonald House)
Some trained COUNT volunteers work together once a month at RMH (http://www.rmhc-centralohio.org/volunteer.php) as Housewarmers (usually on the 1st Sunday from 1 – 5 PM). Some schedule other shifts at their convenience. You may try this out with less fuss by following a "Fast track" or go through the normal process. Fast track • Arrange a time to shadow a COUNT volunteer. Call Dave Nohle at 614-268-9558 (cell). • Show up and try it out. • Complete application, etc. later. Normal process • Complete an online application (http://rmhc-centralohio.org/volunteer/). • Attend orientation in advance. • At orientation you will complete forms agreeing to keep family/patient info private and allowing a background check and tour the facility. • Complete one training shift. Daily shifts are: morning 9 AM - 1 PM, afternoon 1 - 5 PM and evening 5 - 9 PM. • Schedule shifts online using the on the RMH scheduling system (http://www.volgistics.com/ex/portal.dll/?FROM=32895). The Ronald McDonald House (RMH) provides housing and meals for families with sick children. The Columbus RMH is the largest in the world with 137 rooms. COUNT has been volunteering there since May 2014. Housewarmers work with RMH guests to provide a home-like environment - greet, assist with family needs, answer phones, give tours, assist with checkin/checkout, prepare guest rooms after checkout, clean facility, laundry, restock supplies and staff the front desk. RMH Housewarmers volunteer at least one four-hour shift a month. All Housewarmers must complete an application and agree to a background check before they can be full fledged volunteers.
