Session 18: Education
Session 18: Education
Hi! Welcome to Thought Experiments in Pubs - Berlin edition, where you get to have deep conversations with people you've never met. The topic will be education. I'll post some questions that will help guide us through the topic as a comment on the day. **Location:** [Atopia Kaffeehaus, Prenzlauer Allee 187, 10405 Berlin](https://maps.app.goo.gl/Ukuup9CTrmedrB6f9) * Please consider that the locations we visit do not charge us for our booking, so in return, please make sure to show your appreciation by buying drinks or snacks. * If you're signed up but can't make the event, please cancel so someone else can take your spot * Make sure you check the right address, there is a sister pub nearby and it's not that one ☝️ **The idea:** A chance to meet and talk at a 'deeper' level, and skip the 'small talk'. **How will it work?** We will have a set of 'Thought Experiments', short, philosophical scenarios and questions, which will be discussed in groups. The conversation will flow freely, there are no strict rules, simply share and discuss your perspectives on the given topic. The thought experiments will be posted here ahead of the event. **Who should come?** Everyone! We believe that the more perspectives, the richer the conversation. This group is not about being experts in philosophy, it is about *doing* philosophy. That is, bringing our various life experiences and lenses on the world to group discussions about the human experience, the nature of reality... etc. **Do I need to bring anything?** No! Just an open, inquisitive mind. We will do 3 rounds of discussions. After the event, I would love to hear your feedback on the session. The thought experiments we will discuss are around the theme of the day. Prompts will be posted here on the day of the event. See you soon! \- Dirk *Thought Experiments in Pubs Berlin is inspired by [Thought Experiments in Pubs London](https://www.meetup.com/thought-experiments-in-pubs/), which originated in 2023 as a social experiment to get people together to connect at a deeper level. The copy on this page and original idea is derived from [Thought Experiments in Pubs London](https://www.meetup.com/thought-experiments-in-pubs/). For more info and to enquire about setting up your own group and joining the TEiP community, check out the [main TEiP website](https://www.alltogether.one/thoughtexperimentsinpubs) or contact Bonny: [bonnyastor@gmail.com](http://mailto:bonnyastor@gmail.com/)* [Buy Bonny a coffee](buymeacoffee.com/bonnyastor) as a thank you for keeping the community going and sharing the thought experiments with us. Collaborative Drawing & Printing group, Rhinower Str 10, 10437. Just try it!!!
Communicative, collaborative and creative drawing sessions. Participants draw a central still-life that the group can create themselves until the music track finishes and then pass it to the person on their left. The drawings change hands 3 to 5 times and the end results are always inspiring. After the collaborative warm-up participants can work individually on printing techniques, Mono -printing, tetra-pack or gelli. -printing. Feel free to try out a process that you are unfamiliar with. There will always be somebody to offer advice if necessary Bring A4 paper, and favourite materials, pencils & brushes. You can also use some studio materials in exchange for a small contribution. A fun but informative approach with consistently creative results!

Offener Deutschunterricht - Text & Konversation - Niveau B2+ (Fortgeschritten)

**Termine**: 22./01, 12./02, 26./02, 12./03, 09./04, and 23./04. **Geschlossene Gruppe**: Diese Struktur schafft eine vertrauensvolle Umgebung, in der Teilnehmer tiefergehende Verbindungen aufbauen können. **Kosten**: kostenlos mit Anmeldung *\*\* Diese Veranstaltung ist Teil unseres Programms ‚****[Gemeinsam statt einsam](https://wearevillage.org/village-quartiere/addressing-queer-lonliness)****‚, unterstützt von der* ***[LADS](https://www.berlin.de/sen/lads/)****.* *Erfahre mehr über das Programm [hier](https://wearevillage.org/village-quartiere/addressing-queer-lonliness).* 🔵 **From Loneliness to Community \| Creating Connections** **with *Marco Obermüller*** **Closed Group \| 6 Thursdays \| In German\*** für **LGBTQIA+** Free event with **[registration](https://wearevillage.org/en/shop/einsamkeitserien1/w04-2026/)** Loneliness can arise when people have few opportunities to experience genuine connection with others. This is where the group comes in, creating spaces in which a sense of belonging can be actively experienced. By working together on personal topics, a social space of resonance emerges that replaces isolation with relationship and contact. Through the structured sharing of experiences, loneliness becomes visible, discussable, and therefore open to change. Through facilitated interaction, shifts in perspective, small experiments in experiencing contact, and shared reflection, participants develop new forms of connectedness and strategies for social effectiveness. The group functions not only as a source of support, but also as a learning environment for shaping relationships. In this way, resilient connections are formed that extend beyond the individual meeting and help to sustainably reduce loneliness. **General Information** This group consists of a maximum of 15 participants. **Language**: This series will be held in German. This series is open to everyone. Your German should be fluent enough to follow an event in German. **Important**: you must commit to all 6 sessions. **Dates**: 22/01, 12/02, 26/02, 12/03, 09/04, and 23/04. **Closed Group**: This structure creates a supportive environment where participants can build deeper connections. **Cost**: free event with registration *\*\* This event is part of the we are village program ‘****[Belonging versus Lonelines](https://wearevillage.org/village-quartiere/addressing-queer-lonliness)****‘, with the support of* ***[LADS](https://www.berlin.de/sen/lads/en/)****.* *Learn more about the program [here](https://wearevillage.org/village-quartiere/addressing-queer-lonliness).*

Walk & Talk About Life's Big Questions
Walk & Talk About Life's Big Questions
[The Board Walks](http://www.theboardwalks.com/) are for curious people who love deep conversations. If that sounds like you, **bring a thoughtful topic** and join us for a 5-mile walk (10,000+ steps!). **HOW IT WORKS** **Step 1: Bring a topic** Before you arrive, think of **one** topic you want to explore. A question. A thought that's been on your mind. An obsession you want to geek out on. This is your ticket to the event. **Step 2: Circle up & share** We gather in a circle. Your friendly walk host gives a speech to set the tone. Everyone shares: your name, what you're grateful for, and your topic. That's it. 60 seconds. **Step 3: Walk, talk & float** We walk 5 miles. You naturally drift into conversation with 2-3 people at a time, pulled by topics that spark your curiosity. When you're ready to move on, just say: "I'm going to float!" **Step 4: Feel more alive** Two hours flies by. You're back where you started — but you feel different. More alive. More energized. More connected to yourself and others. That's why regulars join 20+ times. *For more details, read our [Orientation Guide.](https://www.theboardwalks.com/orientation)* **HOW TO BRING A GREAT TOPIC** A great topic = something you're genuinely curious about. Recent topics include: * "What are you passionate about right now?" * "What makes a good friend?" * "What's a belief you used to hold that you've completely changed?" * "How do you want to be remembered?" * "What would you do if money wasn't a factor?" Think of your topic like the dish you're bringing to our conversational potluck. If everyone brings an A+ dish (i.e. energizing, uplifting, expansive), we'll all walk away feeling lighter and brighter. **WHAT TO EXPECT** This isn't a fitness event with casual chitchat. It's a walking think tank where we explore life's big questions together, beyond small talk. *If you're looking for light banter or a standard networking event, this probably isn't the right fit.* But if you crave depth, genuine connection, and conversations that make you feel alive? You'll love it here. **FAQ** * Wear casual athletic attire and sneakers. It's a long walk! * We have multiple first-timers at each event. We work hard to create a welcoming, inclusive, clique-free space. * We welcome people of **all** ages, backgrounds, and industries who align with the [intention](https://www.theboardwalks.com/ground-rules) of this space. * Rain or shine, we've been out here nearly every week since July 2022. If the event is cancelled, we'll let you know. * Dogs, babies in strollers, parents, and friends are welcome — please text/email them the event link so they can RSVP and prepare a topic! **LOGISTICS** * If you'll arrive over 10 minutes late, we suggest skipping the event. It's hard to find us once we start walking, and your host can't answer messages during the event. * This walk is designed for everyone to *move together at the same steady pace* (about 20 min/mile). This format works best when the whole group moves in unison. If you have mobility limitations, we kindly encourage you to find an event better suited to your needs. * Read our [Orientation Guide](https://www.theboardwalks.com/orientation) for full details. * If you enjoy the event, send **[this](http://www.theboardwalks.com/)** to a friend or sign up for our **[newsletter](https://theboardwalks.beehiiv.com/)**. We're in multiple cities with more on the way. 🤠👋 **IF YOU WANT TO GO DEEPER...** [The Board](https://stan.store/ellebeecher/p/the-board) is the next step: a high-trust collective for renaissance people devoted to creating, connecting, and building lives that light us up. * This is a global HQ for people who crave big talk, deep connection, and dream collaborations with people across industries. If the walks feel like a spark... The Board is the fire. Apply [here](https://stan.store/ellebeecher/p/the-board).
Columbus: A Study In Psalms--Psalm 5 and 6
Columbus: A Study In Psalms--Psalm 5 and 6
No person who seeks *true* justice can do so for long without recognizing the necessity of regular, close looks in the mirror. It has been said that the sins we hate most strongly in others are often ones with which we ourselves struggle. If one is not careful, our zeal to see wrongs righted can cause blind spots in our own lives. David knew this intimately. While literally on the run for his life from his enemies, he did not hesitate to call out the sins and wrongdoings of those evildoers, asking God to vindicate him, and to judge the wicked; and yet on multiple occasions, most famously in the adultery against and murder of one of his own friends, David had to reckon with the fact that he, himself, was the one who did evil, sinning against God and man. The only hope for David and the only hope for every human is the perfect justice, mercy, and grace that are found in the Lord, the One, as David later would write, "Who forgives your sins, Who heals your diseases, Who redeems your life from the pit..." \~Psalm 103. We will continue our study in Psalms, looking at [chapters 5](https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm%205&version=NIV) and [6](https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm%206&version=NIV), **6:30 pm,** **Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at True Food Kitchen, Easton Town Center**. CMG Gives Back: Serve Brunch at FAITH MISSION GRANT KITCHEN!
Join us as we get together to get together to help those in need at this CMG Gives Back event! We have a great little community of Movie Group friends so rather than see a movie this time, we’ll help “create a better world” by helping serve those in need. Here are complete details and our plan for this event: FAITH MISSION – GRANT KITCHEN: The Faith Mission kitchen and dining room serves residents 3 meals a day, every day of the year. For this event, our group will help prepare food, serve meals, assist residents in the dining room, wash dishes, and clean surfaces. PLAN: We will be preparing / serving / cleaning for BRUNCH from 10:30am to 12:30pm and have space for a total of 7 volunteers. Please arrive at 10:20am and wear closed-toe shoes and long pants. LOCATION: Faith Mission – Grant Kitchen is located at 245 N. Grant Ave. Enter the kitchen at Dock 1 (in the back of the building), indicated in the attached map. On-site parking in the adjacent lot and street parking is available in the surrounding area. Below are some links / attachments with additional info/details: IMPORTANT REMINDER: Our group will be providing all of the volunteers on this day so a firm RSVP count is essential. Please only sign up if you are certain you’ll be able to attend. If something unavoidable comes up, please try to update your RSVP no later than one week prior to the event. With few exceptions, no shows or cancelations within 1 week of the event will not be eligible for future CMG Gives Back events. I appreciate your understanding as we try to ensure the agencies have the volunteers needed to provide the essential services they provide to the vulnerable population they serve. Our Partner Agency for this event is Lutheran Social Services! A huge THANK YOU to all of YOU for volunteering at this (and any of our previous) CMG Gives Back events! Should be a good/fun/meaningful time together, Dan
