Commenting on J.M.E. McTaggart's account of love, C.D. Broad said, "love is, in some respects, so sublime, and, in others, so ridiculous, and the two aspects are so closely intertwined, that it is not easy to keep a just mean between cheap cynicism and muddled mysticism" (1938, 129). He thought McTaggart came dangerously close to the mystical extreme, and I think many recent discussions have likewise been too high-minded. Broad hoped to avoid the contrary vice of cynicism by confining himself to "the prosaic paths of platitude and banality," and I plan to follow his lead. I'll argue that love is a complex of many elements and therefore has a complex relationship to reasons. While some elements are supported by reasons, others aren't; while some ground reasons, others don't. This is partly because reasons can bear on love at different points. There can be reasons to start a loving relationship; reasons to continue or end it once it's begun; and reasons, including moral ones, to act one way rather than another during it. Hi everyone. Nathan Phillips Square is playing host to Canadian Latin Fest 2026 on Sunday, 12 April. Through music, food, dance and performance, it celebrates Canadian Latin culture, which I am sure we can all agree, is very vibrant in the city. The event starts at noon with opening remarks and some dignitary speeches. **MEET TIME:** 12:00 noon for our own opening remarks and intros. According to the schedule, the performances are (mostly) over by 3pm. **MEETING SPOT:** in the covered area between Hero Burger and the skate rental shop. **Note:** For those wanting to come a bit later, I will check back at the meeting spot after the first parade ( approx. 1 pm) According to their schedule, the first of two parades steps off at 12:40pm. (The parades are new and I believe they will be quite short and take place within the square.) Whatever your photo interests might be, I am sure there will be lots of ops, not only as part of the festival but also all around City Hall. On a side note, I anticipate putting together meetups in the future, likely during the week when the days are longer, that will offer an element of instruction. The idea is to have willing experienced photographers lead small groups of beginners or those looking to improve their photography skills and/or knowledge of their DSLR or mirrorless. For Sunday's meetup, I think everyone would want to shoot the parade(s)/performances on their own but if there are people interested/willing, they could team up for an hour of guided shooting at some point during the day. **All good things must come to an end! (**At least temporarily.) I started this Meetup community to pass on what the community gave me - some awesome people in life and experience the thrill of hosting some unique events. I am pretty fulfilled by how its turned out to be and what I have been able to accomplish so far. However, its time for me to venture on another adventure (to be revealed at the event) and for me to take a leave from hosting. But the show must go on, and so will this group. **The Data-Driven Brand: Using Analytics to Shape Perception** Can you use analytics to improve tacos? This being CBUSDAW, we think the answer is probably “yes”, but we’re not sure how to implement or test this theory. For our April meetup we’ve got Sara Kear, CMO of Condado Tacos, to investigate this delicious question. Sara will explore how she blends quantitative data and qualitative customer feedback to shape brand positioning and drive business decisions.
