SOTO ZEN in ZOOM - Saturdays - a safe place to discuss Zen
SOTO ZEN in ZOOM - Saturdays - a safe place to discuss Zen
Weekly Zen Meditation meetings followed by a talk and Q&A session. Duration 1-hour. Led by Sensei Ryuko, a Soto Zen Priest and a Master Zen Teacher in various traditions. Our practice is based on the Japanese Soto tradition, but combines this with our background in Rinzai (koan work), Korean and Vietnamese Zen practices. All welcome regardless of experience, and particularly welcome if you share our community spirit that helping ourselves is as important as helping others. We typically sit for just 10 minutes, then a talk followed by discussion. This is a very lively group that discusses a wide range of Zen-related issues and questions. Zoom link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/516177070 We are a "Zen center without walls" using Zoom to meet. Visit us at our website: http://www.stillcenter.org For more information, recorded talks, our books, and more. We are open to all members worldwide.

Deeply Connect with Divine Love — The Sound of Soul
Would you like to discover your true Self? Do you want to know how to love unconditionally even in hard times? Are you interested in learning a simple technique to open your heart to Divine Love? You are warmly invited to join us and experience a simple spiritual exercise to open our heart to divine love in a friendly atmosphere with other like-minded souls. Come, share your stories and insights. The Sound of Soul is HU. The HU sound is a vibration often heard in the wind from Heaven, God's Holy Spirit. This sound has even been called the name of God. “As you chant the name of God, with love, for twenty minutes a day, the bindings that constrain Soul will begin to unwind. Not all at once, but very slowly, at a rate you can understand and accept. 'As these bindings are released, Soul rises in spiritual freedom.” — Harold Klemp, The Sound of Soul, p. 31 Experience some of the many benefits of the Sound of Soul: • Inner Peace and Calm • Divine Love • Expanded awareness • Spiritual self-discovery and growth • Healing of the heart • Conquer fear • Inner Guidance Open your heart to yourself and others. Gain a greater sense of spiritual consciousness. Awaken into a larger room. Share your experiences and insights with fellow spiritual explorers. Speak Easy (Storytelling)
Speak Easy (Storytelling)
The topic for June is "Roadtrip" Speak Easy: true stories, told live. The idea is simple: an audience, an open microphone, and great stories. Hilarious, gripping, poignant- it's up to you. Audiences are invited to come to listen or come to tell as folks from all corners of Columbus offer their stories live on stage! Held at Wild Goose Creative's warm, intimate space, this night of tales occurs on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Doors open at 6:30 pm, show starts at 7:00 pm. Please arrive early if you want to tell, as we generally only have room for a limited number of tellers, and the sign-up sheet has a tendency to fill up fast. Formed around the idea that people need stories--they're what hold and draw us together--SpeakEasy celebrates the strangeness and commonness of being human. And in a world of smartphones, Facebook, Twitter, and more . . . it gives people a real, breathing, in-person way to connect. The night is geared for true stories of all kinds, taking the best tales told around kitchen tables, in darkened pubs, on the street corner, and at late-night parties and giving them an audience. Speak Easy is also a great outlet for performers, writers, and artists looking to share their favorite stories and perfect their skills. We strongly encourage tellers to please tell the story rather than read it so we keep within the spirit of good storytelling and stay engaged with the audience. All are welcome. Hang around after the show for a drink and build community!
Columbus Arduino Raspberry Pi Enthusiasts (CARPE) (Check Location)
Columbus Arduino Raspberry Pi Enthusiasts (CARPE) (Check Location)
Bring your Raspberry Pi, Arduino, microcontroller, or any other electronic project and join fellow electronics makers for a night of creativity and collaboration! This session is open forum to share your current projects—whether complete or in progress, it’s all interesting! Whether you’re deep into embedded systems, exploring new ideas, or just getting started, you’ll find a welcoming space to collaborate, share, and get inspired. **New to electronics or curious about tinkering?** You’re absolutely welcome. If you’re a beginner and want to experiment, I’ll have a couple of starter kits available so you can try things out—whether that’s blinking your first LED, putting something on a display, or experimenting with simple sensors. No pressure and no experience required—just an interest in learning and building. While we continue to pursue a more permanent venue for this Meetup, we’ll be using public library facilities based on availability. This session will be at the Worthington Park Library in the Olentangy Meeting Room.
Loose Tea Tasting
Loose Tea Tasting
Please join Columbus Tea Lovers for a tasting of loose leaf teas at a private residence in Worthington. (The address will be sent out via private Meetup message a day ahead to those who have RSVP'd.) June 20th is the Worthington Arts Festival so feel free to attend that event which is down the street in addition to the tea party. For this tasting please bring a tea or tisane (an herbal brew that contains no tea leaves) does not come in a prepackaged tea bag. You can feel free to bring it pre-brewed in a carafe or thermos; please leave out the milk and sweetener as we will have some on hand to mix and match. We will have the kettle on and fillable single serve disposable tea bags if you would like to bring the tea leaves unbrewed and extra tea cups on hand as well. We welcome you to bring snacks or desserts that are you enjoy pairing with tea. You can bring a chair if the day is nice in case we sit outside. There is a cat in the house, so be aware in case of allergies. If you want to write in the chat what you plan to bring so we don't have a lot of the same thing, please do so!
