The purpose of the meetup is to chat about RPG stuff, play RPGs together whenever possible, and give Gamemsasters and Players a way to informally meet and greet each other, talk about RPG stuff, and help to facilitate introducing players to games in the area. If you are a GM with open slots at your table this would be a good venue to meet perspective new players. Just post a RSVP and tell the group a little bit about your game so players can get an idea of what you're up to. Or feel free to drop in and chat about D&Dish stuff. If you are interested in alternative RPGs like some Indie Games or Traveler, or whatever version of D&D from Edition 1 onward, feel free to drop in. We're open to any RPG type games. I'll try to remember to have a sign up stating that this is us which will say "Westchester Area RPG Society (WARS)!!", but do look around for us ... Modern Myths is not a huge store, and we generally will be sitting at the tables in the back of the store. Also, please note - a minimum of three members need to RSVP 24 hours in advance for us to hold the meeting. Otherwise the meeting is postponed until next time. We gather for guided meditation with periods of silence, followed by discussion. The silence is interspersed with meditation instruction, perhaps a brief reading, a simple inquiry, exploration or movement. We meet every Monday night, 7:30 pm Eastern Time, ONLINE. If you find you are running late, come anyway! The format is very relaxed and open— anyone interested in contemplative practice is welcome! About Open Awareness Meditation Group At the heart of these meditation sessions is the silent exploration of what we refer to as Open Awareness. We all know what it means to feel closed, limited, vulnerable, or separate. What is it like to allow ourselves to return to our natural condition of openness, presence, non-separateness and ease? This is what we explore in our meetings. We have been meeting for over a decade. We explore and share primarily from traditions of Tibetan Buddhism, as well as the Indian Nondual tradition of Advaita. Some current teachers of this are Francis Lucille, Rupert Spira, and Eckhart Tolle . However all of these traditions ultimately point to the same truth, the truth of our basic awareness or presence which is beyond any tradition, practice or teaching. This is the presence we share, and the presence we are, beyond words. The meetings are open to newcomers as well as experienced meditators, and all are very welcome. Firstly we play all week and not only on Friday nights, so come and take a look and say hi in the Discord 😊 Random members of the group gather in discord and play games on Friday night! Depending on my schedule I may or may not be able to join! But many members are there so feel free to drop by and put something together! It says from 8-10pm but we often go on till 11 or 12. Most of the games are completely free and can be joined via browser or a link! Come and join, everyone is super friendly and willing to help newbies. We play all kinds of games such as Among us, Board games, Jackbox Party Pack, Codenames and lots more. We also play many PC games on steam in the discord during the week. Such as Rocket League, Valorant, Elder Scrolls Online, WoW, Fall Guys, Overcooked 2, Rainbow Six Siege etc.. We are close to our creative source when the child within - the creative unconscious - speaks its mind and ignores any critical or editorial voices. In the morning we will let that "Crazy Child" write. And when the exercise is shared, the workshop as a whole will likely repeat many of your lines and say, "Those images are striking!" or "That scene is full of power!" These are clues for the afternoon's exercise. Or we may go wherever the energy is and write freely and wildly again. This is proprioceptive writing - dealing with the stories contained in our psyches and nervous systems - and it gives texture, flair, and power to all kinds of writing. We are usually surprised by how much writing we do in these workshops, and by its high quality. This is aside from the fun we have, and how the journey satisfies our souls! This is a monthly workshop usually presented the second Saturday of the month. All workshops are presented via Zoom. Write with paper and pen or a laptop, your writing preference.
