The functional side of C#: functors and monads in everyday code

Swiss PSUG 04/2026
Dear Microsoft Swiss PSUG,
We have planned another exciting event.
**Place & Language:**
Place: Isolutions AG, Schanzenstrasse 4c, 3008 Bern (Hybrid with Teams)
Language: EN
**Session 1: The power of 'Domain Specific Languages' in PowerShell - DSL Explained.**
Description:
In this session, we’ll explore the power of Domain Specific Languages (DSLs) in PowerShell — what they really are, how they work under the hood, and how you can leverage them to write cleaner, more expressive, and more maintainable automation code.
Speaker: [Stéphane van Gulick](https://www.linkedin.com/in/stephanevg/)
**Session 2: Azure DevOps Pipeline und Container Registry**
Description:
Ever needed to deploy PowerShell modules to your company users without relying on the public PowerShell Gallery? This session explores how to distribute modules using PSResourceGet together with Azure Container Registry - a simple, self‑hosted, and independent solution. We'll cover the architecture, automated distribution, validation, testing, versioning, and how these principles apply to any deployable artifact such as container images or files.
Beyond the mechanics, we'll discuss how to design scalable pipelines that avoid “works on my machine” issues and simplify maintenance. Whether you're building internal tooling or publishing modules for wider use, you’ll see how DevOps fundamentals help turn PowerShell code into reliable, reusable deliverables.
Speaker: [MVP Fabien Tschanz](https://www.linkedin.com/in/fabientschanz/)
**Agenda:**
17:00 Welcome
17:30 Session 1
18:15 Session 2
19:00 Networking and Beer
20:00 End of Event

COUNT monthly event: Kitchen service at Van Buren Center's shelter
Come assist Van Buren Shelter (https://ymcacolumbus.org/locations/vanburen) staff in serving dinners and cleaning up on the 3rd Tuesday of each month. Dinner for the women is 5-6 pm and for the families is 6:15-7:15 pm. There is ample free parking available in the shelter's lot. The recommended area to park is in green in the image above.
There will be a new entrance for the time being. We are asking all volunteers to enter through the Donation Dock door, the orange mark on the image above. This door is located between the Single Adults and Family Shelter. You will see 2 large garage doors with a large green trash compactor in the center. Please head to the closest garage door to the building wall, with a ramp leading up. There, you will see a door with a sign stating instructions on how to enter the building. Please ring the doorbell, and a staff member will come and escort you into the building. If a staff member takes longer than 5 minutes, please call the front desk at 614-689-2020. This is a new process for us, and we do not want to keep you waiting! We appreciate your patience as we navigate this temporary change.
The shelter needs a volunteer count the day before the event so sign-up ends Monday at 4:50 PM. Afterwards some of us go to the Omnipresent Atheists Weekly Meetup in progress to have a bit to eat or drink (http://www.meetup.com/omnipresentatheists/).
Volunteers must be 14 or older. Since we will be working around families, the YMCA does not permit volunteering by individuals with convictions for violent or sexual crimes. The YMCA reserves the right to run background checks on volunteers.
For questions, comment on this page or contact: Andrew, awhit12@yahoo.com, (614)937-5802 (cell). Please let Andrew know if you volunteer anytime other than our COUNT events so that he can count your hours toward our service record.
Prompt vs. Paintbrush
AI is changing how art is made. But when does it stop being your work and start being the machine’s?
This month we're going to be doing a panel with with digital image, music, and written word artists, talking about at what point, while using AI in the creation process, does the work become not the artist creation?
We encourage audience participation during this event that will be moderated by Chris Slee.
Whether you’re deep in the field or just getting curious, come connect with others building and exploring AI in Columbus.

April Book Club Meetup
Welcome, readers!
Our April read is **_Martyr!_ by Kaveh Akbar.**
The story follows a young Iranian American poet grappling with grief, addiction, and the aching question of what makes a life meaningful. Drawn into an unexpected friendship with a terminally ill artist, he begins to confront faith, love, and the seduction of self-destruction. Lyrical, darkly funny, and emotionally piercing, the novel wrestles with beauty and despair in equal measure. It’s a story about longing—to be seen, to be forgiven, and to matter.
Looking forward to discussing with everyone!
We will meet at Zaftig Brewing Co in their event room in the back. We are welcome to bring in our own food, but **drinks must be purchased at the bar.**
Happy reading! 📖
Pop-up Book Club 3: The Ballad of The Sad Café, by Carson McCullers
Let’s meet and share our thoughts about Carson McCullers’ novella, The Ballad of The Sad Café.
Summer Social: Let's kick off summer with Adult field day at Shadybowl!
We’re bringing back Adult Field Day.
Last year was a good mix of competition and just hanging out, so we’re doing it again with some new games mixed in. Think team-based challenges, simple races, and a few things inspired by game shows.
You don’t need to be athletic. Most of the fun is just being part of a team and getting to know people you wouldn’t normally talk to.
The goal isn’t really winning. It’s meeting people, laughing a bit, and leaving knowing a few more names than when you showed up.
If you stick around after, we’ll have a potluck, a bonfire, and a couple comedians in the evening.
Bring:
* Something to share for the potluck
* Clothes you can move around in
