Sobre nosotros
The Valley Forge Audubon Society (VFAS) is a chapter of the National Audubon Society serving those residing in Southeastern Pennsylvania, including Delaware and Chester Counties, and parts of Montgomery and Philadelphia Counties. Our mission is to preserve birds, other wildlife, and their habitats by promoting appreciation and stewardship of the local natural environment through education and active participation. VFAS offers regular bird walks, hikes, events, and educational programs. Valley Forge Audubon Society is committed to inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility in the birding community and beyond. We are excited to bring the joys of birding – the fun of seeing or hearing birds, the social benefits of being part of a like-minded community, and the health and wellness benefits humans receive from spending time in nature – to “everyone and every body”, regardless of someone’s physical, mental, emotional, or societal challenges. Long-time birders, ‘fledgling’ birders, able-bodied birders, and those with disabilities and health concerns are all welcome at VFAS’s programs.
We offer a number of outings that are accessible for those with various access challenges and/or health concerns.

Native Trees and Birding Tour: Harriet Wetherill Park
Harriet Wetherill Park - VFAS, 2642 Butler Pike, Plymouth Meeting, PA, USNative plant/birding outings are increasingly popular, allowing for an exploration of the essential and logical link between birds and native plants. Harriet Wetherill Park is noteworthy for the native plant improvements that park supporters have added and maintain. Our guide for this outing, Andrew Conboy, is a local ISA-certified arborist and urban forester and has been one of the leaders of this important effort. Come join him and volunteer birding guides from the Valley Forge Audubon Society to learn about native trees, shrubs, and other native plants as well as the birds that need them.
We will take about 2 hours to travel along a 1+ mile route of paved and natural paths, although you may leave at any time. All levels of interest and experience as well as all age groups are welcome to join us (although children must be accompanied by an adult.) Bring binoculars if you have them; the guides will have several pairs to lend.
There are accessible restroom facilities on site.
For more information on native trees and shrubs and their importance to birds, please watch a recording of Andrew Conboy's virtual presentation "Supporting Healthy Bird Populations With Native Trees and Shrubs" here: Virtual Presentations - Valley Forge Audubon Society

Farm Fields and Feathered Friends: Birding at Lundale Farm
Lundale Farm, 2501 Pottstown Pike, Pottstown, PA, USMay brings the peak of bird activity to Lundale Farm—ravens feeding their fledglings on the barn roof, kestrels kiting over the pastures, and swallows sweeping low across the fields. Orioles brighten the orchard, bluebirds attend to their first broods in the nestboxes, and every part of the farm offers a new flash of color or song. It’s the perfect month to slow down and enjoy Lundale Farm's spectacular birdlife.
Our trip will cover 1-2 miles along the easy-to-navigate gravel farm road. Please bring binoculars if you have them. This is a great outing for beginning and experienced birders alike - including children accompanied by an adult - and those looking to learn more about regenerative farming practices.
A portable toilet is available on site.
Lundale Farm is a community of regenerative farmers who work to enhance the ecology, health, and diversity of the land. Because the farm is sustainably managed, it not only provides fresh local food for consumers but also provides excellent habitat in which birds can thrive. Please note that Lundale Farm is private property and access is by permission only or for special events such as this one. For more information, visit Home - Lundale Farm.
