Sobre nosotros
See legal disclaimer at bottom of text. EVERYONE MAY NOW JOIN THE GROUP EXCEPT THOSE FEW WHO WERE BANNED. Walking or hiking. Meet other local people who are interested in walking or hiking for fitness and learning about San Francisco's history, including its movie history.
This walking group is unique. It is primarily a health group with a dash of history talk for flavor. It is for people in average physical shape who need restroom stops and not for athletes or people with serious medical conditions.
We keep our group together. We go on many different urban walks, in the best areas, that vary greatly in amounts of climbing and history facts. We walk at a leisurely pace and enjoy the scenery.
Our walks are usually 5 to 7 miles and might be called urban hiking. Our routes are well planned with good restroom stops properly spaced. Though we mainly walk in SF we also walk in Oakland, Piedmont, Sausalito, Berkeley & Alameda.
We always take roll. Attendance has ranged from 1 to 112 on July 5th, 2015. Kids and cameras very welcome. Dogs and other pets are not welcome. Also, smoking is not allowed on the walks as this is a health group. Occasionally we visit science and nature places. 99 out of every 100 doctors say, "JOIN THIS GROUP!"
Our "group photo" was taken May 26th, 2018 at our "Berkeley Rose Garden & Cragmont Rock Park Walk."
Click on "Photos" near the top of the screen to see over 21,000 photos of our walks thanks to scores of our members.

TELEGRAPH HILL & THE WATERFRONT
Salesforce Park, 425 Mission St, San Francisco, CA, USThis is a new walk. Though it is in familiar ground it is a new route. In the middle of our walk we expect to see on Telegraph Hill a giant plant with giant flowers that planted itself there and now in full bloom. It is called "Pride of Madeira" and it usually blooms in and around the month of April.
The photo above here shows these flowers on Telegraph Hill about a year ago. Notice that the flowers are blue, Bees are attracted by the color blue more than any other.
THE START OF OUR WALK
We will gather at the far East end of the top of the Salesforce Terminal, next to the Beale Street Elevator, at 11:00 AM. The top has a beautiful park.I am charging $5 cash for this walk, but I don't collect the $5 until the middle of the walk. I only charge for half of my walks. Children are always free.
At 11:10 AM we will start walking. Late attendees may find us walking around up there.
To find me: I am 6 feet tall, wear a big blue & black hat and have a clipboard. One should bring water, and a sack lunch.
Late attendees may find us walking around up there.
We will officially end at Montgomery & Market Street where there is a BART Station, but I will be walking back to the Salesforce Terminal and others going there may join me.
I advise taking public transportation & not driving to SF because both driving and parking there is usually bad.
This walk is our first to honor a flower or plant. I will try to pick one to honor each month. My next one is the roses in the Berkeley Rose Garden. For the past two years we had a great time visiting that rose garden because they do something to get all of their roses to bloom at the same time which attracts big groups!
The next Saturday, May 2nd, we will walk to the Berkeley Rose Garden, and there is a very good chance we will run into some Pride of Madeira.
The Oakland Rose Garden is completely different because they let their roses bloom at their own speed resulting in fewer roses.
