Sobre nosotros
Welcome to the Florida Sea Kayaking Association Meetup (FSKA Meetup) website! We are a kayak club that uses Meetup for communication, event scheduling, and dues collection. We are not a business, nor do we have rental kayaks available.
Our club operates under the Common Adventure Model which means that you are responsible for your own skills, equipment, decisions and safety. Everyone in the group watches out for each other. We purchase liability insurance which requires everyone to sign a liability waiver. It is a sport with risks and you assume responsibility for your own safety.
Members must sign the insurance waiver when joining and again at the beginning of each calendar year. There is a 30-day free trial period in which to pay the dues the first time.
JOINING
How to Pay Dues: Dues are collected through Meetup and Stripe credit card processor.
Log into Meetup.
Click the 'Join this Group' in the Red Box on our FSKA-Meetup home page.
It will take you to Meetup/Stripe where you may pay the $20 dues by credit card anytime during the free 30-day trial membership. If you pay the dues they will not be collected until the 30 day trial ends.

Simpson Creek to Nassau Sound Islands
PADL - Amelia & Talbot Island, 13030 Heckscher Drive, Jacksonville, FL, USWe will paddle on Simpson Creek to the white sand beaches of Nassau Sound.
We will launch about 9:30 am from PADL Ameila, paddle north on Simpson Creek with the lowering tide, get out of our kayaks to take a break and an optional swim or walk when we arrive at a white sand beach on Nassau Sound after paddling about an hour and then paddle northeast for about an hour along the west side of the other white sand islands where we will get out of our kayaks for lunch and an optional swim or walk. We will then paddle back to PADL Amelia with the rising tide.
We will paddle in open water and 1-3 foot swells and we will land and launch in waves of less than 1 foot.
We will see jumping fish and a variety of birds. Please arrive about 9:00 am so we can launch about 9:30 am. The launch time is important because we must launch about 9:30 am to be able to use the regular boat ramp. We must return no earlier than about 2:30 pm to be able to use the regular boat ramp.
If you have not completed and signed the waiver form in 2026, when you sign up, please complete and sign the waiver form at:

It will be more fun and safer if we paddle as a group. Please paddle within about 10 kayak lenghts of the other kayakers.
PADL Amelia charges $5 plus sales tax to launch a kayak.
There is a restroom in the PADL Amelia Island office.
Please bring a kayak, PFD, whistle, water, sunscreen and lunch or snack.
Total time on water and land: 4.5-5.0 hours
Total distance: 9-10 miles (with the current)
Kayaking level: experienced intermediate
Low tide: 12:10 pmIf your plans change and you will not be going, please change your status from "going" to "not going" on the Meetup page for this event so we have correct information regarding who will be going to this event.
Please check this website after 5 pm the day before the paddle to see if there is a postponement due to a bad weather forecast. If a postponement is not posted by 5 pm the day before the paddle, we will paddle the next day at the scheduled time for the paddle.
