The Valley Forge Audubon Society (VFAS) is a chapter of the National Audubon Society serving those residing in Southeastern Pennsylvania, including Delaware and Chester Counties, and parts of Montgomery and Philadelphia Counties. Our mission is to preserve birds, other wildlife, and their habitats by promoting appreciation and stewardship of the local natural environment through education and active participation. VFAS offers regular bird walks, hikes, events, and educational programs. Valley Forge Audubon Society is committed to inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility in the birding community and beyond. We are excited to bring the joys of birding – the fun of seeing or hearing birds, the social benefits of being part of a like-minded community, and the health and wellness benefits humans receive from spending time in nature – to “everyone and every body”, regardless of someone’s physical, mental, emotional, or societal challenges. Long-time birders, ‘fledgling’ birders, able-bodied birders, and those with disabilities and health concerns are all welcome at VFAS’s programs.
We offer a number of outings that are accessible for those with various access challenges and/or health concerns.

Ver todo- An Introduction to BirdingLower Providence Comm Library, Eagleville, PA
Birding, or bird watching, is a fun activity that can be enjoyed by people of all ages and abilities and is one of today’s fastest growing recreational hobbies. If you’ve had a passing interest in birds but don’t know how, when, or where to start your birding journey, this program is for you.
We will explore the basics of birding: where to go, when to go, what equipment is useful, what to look for, how to make identifications, and codes of conduct to follow when in the field. Then we will spend some time outside practicing what we just learned, so if you have binoculars, please bring them (we will help you get them adjusted properly.) Be sure to dress appropriately for the outdoor portion of the program.
Birding is for all ages (so please bring the children!) and all abilities, so if you have been thinking about beginning to “bird” please come and let us help get you started.
This free program is presented by Valley Forge Audubon Society (VFAS) volunteers Patty & John Werth, who lead outings and present educational programs for VFAS. Patty also serves on the VFAS Board of Directors. Both are passionate about birds and love sharing their enthusiasm with others through education and in-person experiences.
