Visir to loughcrew
Visir to loughcrew
11 30 AM meet-up on top of hill. 🥾 Short uphill stroll (15–20 mins… spiritual growth disguised as mild suffering) At the top: • Glorious 360° views • Ancient stones & mysterious symbols • Deep meditation & possibly dramatic wind-blown hair • Profound insights (or at least a good excuse to sit down) Once suitably awakened, we descend and refuel like the grounded beings we are at Loughcrew Gardens. Bring comfy shoes, warm layers, and whatever level of enlightenment you currently possess. ✨ Side effects may include clarity, peace, and snack cravings ✨

POTA on Easter Monday from Ticknock
POTA on Easter Monday from Ticknock
Join us on **Easter Monday, 6 April**, for a **Parks on the Air (POTA)** outing from **Ticknock** in the Dublin Mountains. If you have not come across POTA before, it is all about bringing amateur radio into the great outdoors, setting up in a qualifying park, and making contacts from the field. We did a quieter test run on Bull Island recently and it went well, so this time we are opening it up to the wider **TOG community and the public**. We will meet at **10:30am** at the **Ticknock café** and then head off to find a good place to set up and operate. We expect to be on air for around **two hours**. You are very welcome to come along, help out, and even have a go on the radio using the **club callsign EI0TOG**. Jeffrey Roe, **EI7IRB**, will be leading the activation. Jeffrey is planning to cycle out, but there is parking nearby too. If radio is not really your thing, or you do not want to stay for the whole activation, Ticknock has plenty of walks so you can still join us for part of the outing. After the POTA activation, there are also IRTS 2m and 70cm contests running, so anyone who wants to keep the radio fun going is welcome to do that too. As always, this one is weather dependent. If the conditions are awful, we will give it a miss rather than spend another Monday getting soaked. Read the full details here: https://www.tog.ie/2026/04/pota-on-easter-monday-from-ticknock/ We hope to see some of you there in person, or hear from you on the bands.

**To Get Ticket:** https://www.eventbrite.ie/e/seeing-against-the-grain-ishmael-claxton-tickets-1984137562862?aff=ebdssbdestsearch An artist talk with Ishmael Claxton. Meet and connect with creatives. **Ishmael Claxton is a Dublin based visual artist and photographer working across photography, installation, and curatorial collaboration.** **For this event he wil be presenting his work and ideas for an evening of creativity and discussion.** His practice is shaped by a mix of mathematics, art history, costume design, and creative installation, giving his image making a curious, layered edge. Photography is Ishmael’s main tool for thinking through identity, migration, power, and belonging. His work moves between documentary and staged moments, blending the real and the imagined to reflect the instability of contemporary life. Influenced by surrealism, pop art, futurism, and Afro futurist imaginaries, his images are bold, colourful, and charged with symbolic weight. His work has been exhibited widely across Ireland and internationally, including PhotoMuseum Ireland, the RHA, the Hunt Museum, and the National Concert Hall. He has been recognised by LensCulture, Taylor Wessing, the Royal Photographic Society, and Shutter Hub’s 100 Photographers of Tomorrow. Humanist Program
Humanist Program
The Humanist Monthly Program is our longest running event and still a community favorite. In the old days it used to be called "Going to HCCO" and we still like to think of it as our flagship event. We will be hearing from Becca Powell, Director of Advocacy and Outreach at Unchained At Last, an organization whose mission is dedication to ending forced and child marriage in the United States through direct services and systems change. Unchained At Last's mission clearly meshes and addresses several of our Humanist Ten Commitments. Becca will educate us about an issue many of us may not be familiar with--but should be. Food and drinks will be provided at the event. Feel free to show up a little bit early to hang out and talk. Going forward our meetings will be hybrid. COUNT monthly event: Kitchen service at Van Buren Center's shelter
COUNT monthly event: Kitchen service at Van Buren Center's shelter
Come assist Van Buren Shelter (https://ymcacolumbus.org/locations/vanburen) staff in serving dinners and cleaning up on the 3rd Tuesday of each month. Dinner for the women is 5-6 pm and for the families is 6:15-7:15 pm. There is ample free parking available in the shelter's lot. The recommended area to park is in green in the image above. There will be a new entrance for the time being. We are asking all volunteers to enter through the Donation Dock door, the orange mark on the image above. This door is located between the Single Adults and Family Shelter. You will see 2 large garage doors with a large green trash compactor in the center. Please head to the closest garage door to the building wall, with a ramp leading up. There, you will see a door with a sign stating instructions on how to enter the building. Please ring the doorbell, and a staff member will come and escort you into the building. If a staff member takes longer than 5 minutes, please call the front desk at 614-689-2020. This is a new process for us, and we do not want to keep you waiting! We appreciate your patience as we navigate this temporary change. The shelter needs a volunteer count the day before the event so sign-up ends Monday at 4:50 PM. Afterwards some of us go to the Omnipresent Atheists Weekly Meetup in progress to have a bit to eat or drink (http://www.meetup.com/omnipresentatheists/). Volunteers must be 14 or older. Since we will be working around families, the YMCA does not permit volunteering by individuals with convictions for violent or sexual crimes. The YMCA reserves the right to run background checks on volunteers. For questions, comment on this page or contact: Andrew, awhit12@yahoo.com, (614)937-5802 (cell). Please let Andrew know if you volunteer anytime other than our COUNT events so that he can count your hours toward our service record.
