Re: [book-swap-147] Last night and next month and 31 great New York Books

Hi Liz,

Sorry I wasn't able to make it last night, but I'm
looking forward to the next meeting.

My top choices are:

Another Country, James Baldwin
Enemies, a Love Story, Isaac Bashevis Singer
Miss Lonelyhearts, Nathaniel West
Seize the Day, Saul Bellow

I've read a several of the others on the list and
totally recommend them, too, esp. Quicksand by Nella
Larson. It's a bit odd that Dreiser's Sister Carrie is
on the list. As I remember, the first half is in
Chicago, and the second in New York, so it's not
totally a "New York book." Plus it's REALLY boring! :)

Karen
