Join us as we visit to the National Museum of the American Indian (Indigenous People) in New York is more than a cultural experience—it is a journey through the deep and diverse history of Indigenous peoples in New York and across the United States. Located in the historic Alexander Hamilton U.S. Custom House at One Bowling Green, the museum serves as a vital space for preserving, celebrating, and sharing the stories, traditions, and contributions of Native American communities. The museum's location is significant, as Manhattan was originally home to the Lenape people, and the museum honors the legacy of Native peoples who have lived on these lands for thousands of years.
This October we are visiting NMAI. This is one of the smallest museums curated amazingly. The Museum is located in the historic Alexander Hamilton U.S. Custom House at One Bowling Green in Lower Manhattan.

The National Museum of the American Indian plays a critical role in educating the public about the rich heritage of Native Americans, whose influence extends far beyond the confines of any single region. The museum’s collections and exhibitions highlight the resilience, creativity, and enduring cultural contributions of Indigenous peoples throughout history. As part of the Smithsonian Institution, the New York branch opened in 1994, featuring one of the most comprehensive collections of Native artifacts, spanning from pre-Columbian times to the present.
In exploring the museum, visitors gain a deeper understanding of the struggles, triumphs, and evolving cultural identities of Native American communities, whose stories are essential to the broader narrative of U.S. history.
