★ HOW IT WORKS ★
PICNIC TEAM ARRIVING @ 1:00 pm
VOLUNTEERS ARE REALLY WELCOME, if willing to give a hand just to secure the perimeter help will be very appreciated
(then contact me on benoit.smart@gmail.com)
WHERE :
it happens on Champs de Mars and we will manage for you to get the best situation, to offer you the greatest view on the magnificent show ! In order to spot us out we will bring some distinctive accessories to be easily found from far away More precise information will come in few days.
HOW TO COME : Metro line 8 is the most convenient, exit at "Ecole Militaire", or if you can not as closed any proximate (like Tour Maubourg, Motte Picquet). RERC is also coming close but on the other side of the field so less convenient
Metro will be open 1HOUR MORE THEN REGULAR DAYS
Metro station recommended for the firework feu d’artifice du 14 juillet (http://www.evous.fr/14-juillet-Feu-d-artifice-Champ-de-Mars-Paris-1133438.html)
ligne 8 : La Motte-Piquet, La Tour-Maubourg, Invalides, Ecole Militaire (if early)

ligne 9 : Alma Marceau
ligne 10 : Emile Zola, La Motte-Piquet, Ségur

You have to be aware that with 1/2 million people gathering on the field leaving at the same time most of the very proximate metro station are going to be closed or overcrowded so make sure to leave fast after the firework or walk

WHEN :
IMPORTANT: Champ-de-Mars is always MASSIVELY BUSY (around half million people minimum) so we recommend everyone to arrive quite soon, meaning from 1:00pm to 4:00pm. It will enable you also to enjoy a great day laying down on the grass with known friends or future friends ;-)
Be aware that after 6:00pm it's quite impossible to have access to the grass field and we can not keep room for the ones late.

WHAT:
It's just a cool informal friendly picnic between Internationals so :
- FOOD/DRINKS :
-
Let's BRING TYPICAL FOOD / SPECIALITIES FROM YOUR COUNTRY, to share with others ;-) Regular food for a picnic is also welcome of course
-
bring enough drink for waiting the whole afternoon outside with tough sunshine
-
See the alcohol special rules here after
- DRESS CODE :
Let's make that day Special by BEING ALL DRESSED IN WHITE ... Once in the year it should be funny and will create a special atmosphere if everyone is playing the game. No need to be classy, causal and convenient clothes are welcome, but try to get them white ;-)
- FRIENDS : it's a friendly moment, not an event, so everyone brings his friends, so bring yours .... they will then enjoy that very open minded moment followed by the outstanding show

★ IMPORTANT RULES ★
-
ALCOHOL : Alcohol is banned by the Prefecture de Police after 4:00pm so arrive earlier if you want to bring some.
-
recommendations about alcohol : the best is to pour the wine or alcohol/soda mix in plastic bottles (police is afraid of glass bottle that may injure people), beer in cans can be brought, the main thing being TO REMEMBER TO BE DISCREET WHEN DRINKING
-
There is a risk for your alcohol to be removed by police after after 4pm so arrive before 4:00pm
-
Very difficult to access the grass field after 6:00pm and we will not be able to keep room for the ones arriving after- Bring umbrellas against sun (or against rain...) and a large sheet to be seated on
-
In case of big rain the picnic can be cancelled before it happens, check your meetup of facebook groups invitation
-
In case of big rain when doing the picnic we will go to the Allée des Cygnes (thin-strip of an Island, between Pont Bir Hakeim & Pont de Grenelle (entry via RER C Javel, or Passy (Metro line 6).
★ HOW TO FIND US ★ FOLLOW THE FLAGS CROSS :-)
Here is the map for the Picnic location and greatest show of the year
We are going to be on one or the other side side of the Charles Risler Avenue (depending on the space - if people or not already settled or not - we have when arriving setting up the spot) Just go to the middle of Champs de Mars then look in the direction of Ecole Militaire and you will easily see us, 2 french flags making a cross on each end of the square we are going to keep for you + french colours baloons + lines to make a specific area for us
Don't forget your Umbrella in case of super shining sun or few rain drops ... and your own sheets in order to seat down and put food to share
