‘The 2026 Irish in Europe Year Theme:
''From the Brehon Laws in Ireland to the Rule of Law in Europe and around the World - Ireland championing Democracy, Justice and Fairness.’’
The main function is to help the world wide Irish Diaspora living and working in Europe and promote Irish culture,community building, micro integration and inter-state trade through a network of Chapters in Europe. It incorporates the organisational Committee of the Saint Patrick’s Day Parade of the Nations & Regions in Brussels that first took place in 2009.
To achieve its objectives, each Chapter shall build community relations with the local social, cultural and political bodies in their areas. Membership is open to all nationalities living and working in all Chapter areas.
Its integration events include “Crossing Borders on the Terrace” , "Walkers & Talkers" “Crossing Borders on Fridays “and “Health is Wealth Seminars”,Shannon-Clare Trad Irish Sessions, Cork Jazz Festival Club of Brussels, Hibernian Social Club with business orientation. Tourist information Stands on Ireland and Belgium, Irish in Europe Memorial Lectures,Start Your Own Business, Business Mentoring and Seminars. Claddagh Toastmasters Annual Speakers Corner - Picnic in the Park Meeting

You are invited to Claddagh Toastmasters; guests are most welcome and bring a friend if you wish. Admission Free.
This is not indoor normal club meeting, another outdoor Summer social event, this time it is our fun event and Annual Speakers Corner Picnic in the Park Meeting, Members and Guests most welcome, feel free to bring your own drinks, a sandwich or if you are more ambitious, a picnic.The option exists to meet first at the Saint Martin's Pub on a corner(opposite the European Book Shop)
Av. de la Chevalerie 24, 1000 Bruxelles from 18.15 for a drink or coffee and then proceed to the park at 18.45 to a location that is just 4 minutes walk from the pub. Across from Pub is a corner grocery shop, where you can buy something to eat.For those that arrive early, there is a well known shop called Sugina on between Saint Martins and the Park on Av. de la Chevalerie . It is bio and natural shop and closes at 8pm.
The Bus 61 for Gare du Nord to Montgomery stops at Avenue de la Chevalerie at this shop.This outdoor meeting and is it in a corner of Parc Cinquentenaire, It is in the Triangular Section on the Merode Metro side of the of the Park along tram rail side on Avenue de L’ Yser. Best Western Plus Park is on this street. After a few 100 meters, you will see a pedestrian entrance and walk down the steps in into the Green Area. Turn right and head for the Cluster of Trees in a Circle. We meet at this Cluster.
The tree cluster is about 50 meters to the North of the Mémorial de Guerre de l'Armée de l'Air Belge. See address map
You can also enter the park from Merode metro on righthand side small and take the footpath and you will come to the steps and walk down into the Green Area.
Or you can enter Park and walk on road on right hand side the circular pond and fountain and then enter the green area with a gap to your right and then turn left and you will see the Cluster Circle of trees in the Green Area .
This will be an informal meeting, feel free to bring a bottle or two and a picnic if you wish, it would be wise to bring some water! For your comfort, you can bring a rug or cushion! We will be under the shade of the trees with the temperature at around 24 degrees!
If there is a sudden shower of rain,we can move to the covered colonnade of the nearby military museum facing the cobbled stone square.

After the table topics session and evaluations, then we invite our members and guests to speak on any subject of their choice for three minutes.
As the Claddagh Toastmasters Club has an Irish ethos, you may like to speak on an issue that is a priority of the Irish Presidency of the EU which are:- Competitiveness: Fostering prosperity, driving regulatory simplification, and boosting the single market.
- Values: Upholding the foundational rights and principles of the European Union.
*Security: Protecting citizens, addressing migration, and providing ongoing support for Ukraine.
The theme of the Irish Presidency of the Council of the European Union is "Strength with unity" (derived from the Irish proverb Ní neart go cur le chéile). This motto guides their six-month term, which runs from July 1 to December 31, 2026.

The ultimate objective of the meeting is to emphasise how communication and planning can play an important role in the home and work place and how Toastmasters is an ideal organisation to serve all generations to help you plan and enjoy an active life.Last thing (finally !!!): the first part of the meeting will be held as usual with Table Topics and impromptu speeches and second part consists of prepared speeches given by members in accordance with set objectives followed by evaluations to improve .There is no obligation for guests to speak unless they agree to do so. Afterwards guests can decide if you want to become a member or come back again for a second meeting as a guest.
