After what has seemingly been an endless winter, we're off to the woods today to welcome spring with open arms. Join me on a hike in New Jersey's Norvin Green State Forest.
Located in the Highlands region just west of the Wanaque Reservoir, Norvin Green offers a variety of hikes. Our route today will take us to view the Chikahoki waterfalls, Otter Hole, poke around several abandoned mines, and the awesome viewpoint at Wyanokie High Point which if the day is clear will provide us 360° views of the area, including the NYC skyline.
The important stuff...
• By RSVPing for this event, you agree to the following waiver of liability https://bit.ly/3atj0C5.
• This is going to be an INTERMEDIATE hike of about 6.5 miles. You don't need to be a world-class athlete to participate, but you need to have broken a sweat a few times during the last three months.
• This is a social hike, the pace will be moderate. If you yearn to channel your inner Mountain Goat and feel the need to race everyone to the top of the hill, this is not the hike for you.
• Dress in layers of non-cotton clothing and wear hiking boots or trail shoes, a hat, bring 2 liters of fluid, a packed lunch and/or snacks. Pro tip, bring something warm to consume in a thermos.
