The Zoo is once open again, but you will need to make reservations whether you are a member or not. Please make your reservations before you sign up for this shoot here.
In order to make reservations go here:
https://zoo.sandiegozoo.org/tickets
Click on Member Reservations and follow the directions. You can either print out your reservations or have them sent to your phone via email. The reservations have a code that is scanned at the entrance.
The lighting, temperatures and photo-ops should all be good. The temperatures should be more comfortable and the crowds not too busy.
We will meet in front of the Zoo at 8:30a.m. The process for entering the the Zoo is the same as last year. There is a serpentine line with dividers in front of the Zoo where you have to wait until the Zoo opens. They give a short talk about the rules and regulations and will ask three or four questions regarding COVID as you enter. You must wear a mask at all times. You will not be able to re-enter the Zoo if you leave.
We will enter the Zoo when it opens at 9:00a.m. sharp and assemble in front of the Flamingo Pond for the group photo.
Please be on time! If you are late or lost, do not worry, you can call me Walter on my cell phone at 619-886-7893, and I will tell you where we are, but try not be late. (As cell phone reception is not good in many areas of the Zoo, I may not answer) Maps are available at the entrance. If you're unfamiliar with the Zoo, take a map. Here is a link to the Zoo web site:

Our Route.
Our route will be determined a few days before the shoot and be sent out to you. If anyone has any requests for animals they want to photograph, send me an email and I'll do my best to work it in.
Some special notes (Please read this too):
If you RSVP YES, please show up, otherwise change your RSVP to NO.
Bring walking shoes, water, hats and sunscreen etc. or whatever you need. A long telephoto zoom is the best lens to bring. You must bring a mask. There are lots of places where you can disinfect your hands.
Correct etiquette for Zoo Passes: If you are a member of the Zoo and have a guest pass that can be used by a non-member, please indicate so when you RSVP. If you need a guest pass, please contact the person offering the guest pas via personal message. If your offered pass has been taken, please indicate so. By following this simple procedure we will avoid generating hundreds of emails. Thank you!
This generosity has helped quite a few people in our photo shoots in the past, as the current admission for non-members is now (gulp) $62.00. Thank you.
Members needing assistance or who have questions can ask me or any other Organizers present. We will be glad to help. There will also be other experienced photographers present willing to help out.
It should be another great day out. If you have any questions, suggestions or ideas you can email Walter by going to my member profile. If you get lost or separated from the group, call my cell phone, 619-886-7893. See you there!
Please Note:
Social distancing and all rules mandated by San Diego County must be observed: https://www.sandiegocounty.gov/coronavirus.html

PPS Organizers will ask anyone not observing the rules to leave, and members not abiding may be removed from the group without notice.
