Host - Storytelling Evenings
1) How do the Storytelling Salons launched in 2020 differ from the 70+ Storytelling Evenings launched in 2014?
The Storytelling Salons are VIRTUAL however, both gather storytelling enthusiasts who mingle, interact and listen to a storyteller (entertainer, artist, impersonator, musician, actor, magician, author, singer, dancer) who ENTERTAINS, AMUSES, EDUCATES, ENLIGHTENS or any combination thereof. These 21st century modern day “salons” reflect the French “salons” of the 18th century, which were places for entertainment and intellectual discourse under the roof of an inspiring hostess.
2) Who attends, how often are these Storytelling Salons held, and what is the cost?
Guests and Storytellers join from around the world via ZOOM. Host Bernadette Martin is based in Paris. Events are held usually twice a month on Saturdays at 19:15-21:15 (CEST Paris). The cost is 10 Euros with an option to give a “virtual tip”.
3) How do I register for a Storytelling Salon?

4) What is the flow of these virtual Storytelling Salons?
Guest check in via ZOOM at 19:15 (CEST Paris), and are channelled to various breakout rooms where they are welcomed by a Storytelling Salon Host who orchestrates introductions, mingling etc. At 19:30 ALL guest gather and Host Bernadette Martin sets the stage and the program unfolds with an interview, performance (music, song, dance, other), interspersed with interludes, guest interaction, and possible contest and quiz. The event wraps up with a Q & A from guests and the ZOOM doors close at 21:15. Guests are welcome to participate or remain anonymous.
5) Why the re-branding and name change from Storytelling Evenings to Storytelling Salons?
In 2020, as the Storytelling Evenings transitioned to VIRTUAL the word “Evening” didn’t always apply as guests hail from different time zones and could be joining over morning coffee, afternoon tea or an evening aperitif.
6) Who are the Storytellers?
The Storytellers are entertainers, artists, impersonators, musicians, actors, magicians, authors, singers, and dancers. Actually, anyone who can ENTERTAIN, AMUSE, EDUCATE, ENTHRALL, ENLIGHTEN or any combination thereof.
7) How are the Storytellers sourced?
Host Bernadette Martin, also known as the “Networking Queen”, with contacts across the globe, delights in showcasing talent. Storytellers are sourced from her contacts, colleagues, friends, clients, family, and from recommendations. 8) Is there a culinary aspect to the Storytelling Salons?
Yes, as guests are joining from various time zones, suggested culinary delights to accompany morning coffee, afternoon tea, or an evening aperitif are posted on the Storytelling Salon site.
9) Will the virtual Storytelling Salons continue in the long-term?
Yes, the Storytelling Salons, launched with great success, are long-term with the possible addition of a parallel on-site event.
