We are delighted to announce our next virtual meetup. Join us for an exciting talk with Paulina Jedynak, a Biostatistics and Bioinformatics Postdoctoral Researcher at the Barcelona Institute of Global Health ISGlobal, on April 11 at 7 pm CEST. Paulina will present The Epidemiologist R Handbook, a great resource for learning both R and epidemiology/stats concepts for both complete beginners and advanced R users.

Description:

The Epidemiologist R Handbook (https://epirhandbook.com) is an open-access R reference manual for applied epidemiologists and public health practitioners, available in eight languages and used 2.1 million times by 650,000 people so far. It is a comprehensive resource designed to assist in using R for data analysis, visualization, and interpretation, suitable for people very new to R but also for experienced R users, looking for best practices and tips. In order to make it accessible and user-friendly, each of its 50 chapters is accompanied by clear explanations and step-by-step instructions, with brief examples that address common epidemiological problems. The Handbook covers a wide range of topics, including transitioning to R from other software, data import and export, cleaning and management, working with dates and ‘epiweeks’, generating epidemic curves, performing survival analysis, using basic statistical methods applied to epidemiology, etc.
The Epidemiologist R Handbook is produced by an independent collaboration of epidemiologists and it is hosted and curated by the Applied Epi – a nonprofit organization and grassroots movement of frontline epis from around the world, aiming to strengthen epidemiological practice through training, tools, and support. The organization delivers practical R training courses to over 350 public health agencies worldwide and hosts the Applied Epi Community with a Q&A forum for R code and public health practice.
