British Museum 'Sufi Life & Art' free exhibition + pub social (LoMAZ Unlimited)
**Join us for another LoMAZ Unlimited event, this time visiting the 'Sufi Life and Art' free exhibition at the British Museum.**
**Unlike our regular events (which often have waitlists), our Unlimited ones have no cap on numbers. They're a social for everyone, and a great way to see what we're about.**
**❓ How do our Unlimited events work?**
* We **meet in the museum cafe** first.
* Then we **look** **around 1-3 rooms in the museum for around 50 minutes.**
* You're free to wander around the rooms at your own pace or explore with other members of the group.
* **This isn't a guided tour of the rooms.** We simply limit the number of rooms we visit so it's more manageable with a larger group than usual. Each event we choose a different theme or time period to explore.
* **After this, we head to the pub!**
**THE PLAN:**
**2:00-2.40pm: MEET AND GREET IN BRITISH MUSEUM COURT CAFE**
Look for the hosts wearing LoMAZ badges.
**2:40pm-3.30pm: GO TO 'SUFI LIFE AND ART' FREE EXHIBITION, ROOM 43a ON UPPER FLOOR**
This can be found within The Albukhary Foundation Gallery of the Islamic world:
*'This display will explore Sufi life and art through a selection of objects that represent Sufi communities in the Middle East, North and Sub-Saharan Africa, and northern India. This mystical movement, which first appeared in the Islamic world during the eighth century AD, has been defined as a pathway to a personal experience with God.'*
**Read more** **[here](https://www.britishmuseum.org/exhibitions/sufi-life-and-art).**
**Find the museum map** **[here.](https://www.britishmuseum.org/sites/default/files/2025-10/British_Museum_map.pdf)**
**3.30pm: LEAVE MUSEUM TO WALK TO PUB**
**3:45pm: PUB SOCIAL**
We'll head to the The Penderel's Oak pub.
Address: 283-288 High Holborn, London WC1V 7HP. We were not able to reserve tables this time, unfortunately.

**TICKETS:**
**⚠️ ⛔️ There are now no more tickets left for this date.** The museum reached full capacity when we last visited and staff stopped anyone without a ticket entering. ***As we are attending on Easter Monday, if you don't have a pre-booked ticket or are not a member there is a good chance you won't be let in. ⚠️ ⛔️***
**GETTING THERE:**
**Address:** British Museum, Great Russell St, London WC1B 3DG
Find more information **[here.](https://www.britishmuseum.org/visit#getting-here)**
**EVENT WHATSAPP GROUP:**
As our Unlimited events can get quite busy, we'll have a WhatsApp group for this event to help you find the group on the day.
***See Event Comments for the link.***
**FINALLY:**
**Please change your RSVP to 'no' if you can no longer attend, so the hosts know who to look out for.**
**Thank you for your interest in the group & being part of LoMAZ.**

London Bridge Writers' Group - Pub Meet
**The Talbot Room at the George Inn**
The George provides the room free of charge (they are awesome), and we encourage you to purchase drinks (and food – the burgers are great!). As it’s a pub and not a picnic area, please don’t consume your own food and drink there.
We usually meet in the Talbot room which is on the top floor on the left hand side of the pub as viewed from the courtyard. If lost please send a message here shortly before the meeting starts.
**We are sorry to say that there is no step-free access to the Talbot room, and it is at the end of three flights of stairs.**
**Format**
We start at 7pm and run until 9pm. We hear approximately six readings of 10 minutes (\~2000 words), then discuss the piece for 10 minutes. Email your work to: london60transmitter@emailitin.com as an attachment (It must be an attachment). A link for access to googledocs will be given at the start of each session to enable people to read along, which in turn enables more considered feedback. Work submitted will be automatically deleted after 10 days. We decide on readers/pieces at the beginning of each session.
**Safe and respectful space**
The group is run by volunteers, and we don’t have the capacity to read submitted work in advance. If there is anything in your work that might distress or disturb some readers, for example concerning any kind of abuse, please give a trigger warning before you read. Be specific and concise. If it becomes apparent during a reading that a piece is inappropriate, the moderator will stop the reading. In discussing others’ work, please be mindful of how you express yourself and do not use discriminatory language, even if such language features in the piece.
Escape Plan: Pushed for Time
We are going to the escape room 'Pushed for Time' at Escape Plan. Pushed for Time is an Escape Room Adventure that starts at the offices of Riditure & Co. - the world's first and only Time Travel Agency. You have been recruited by Riditure & Co. to trace the disappearance of their engineers. Stuffed in the walls of an Art Deco elevator, you find some blueprints not seen since 1926. As you investigate the plans, you realise that the only way forwards is back! ([Website](https://escapeplanltd.com/our-games)).
After the game, we could have lunch at Hoppers Shoreditch nearby.
Please pay £28, £3 for admin fee and £25 for the ticket. There will be no refunds but you could sell your ticket to another member if no longer able to attend.

❤️🎬 THE WORST PERSON IN THE WORLD
*✨**The Worst Person in the World is a wistful and subversive romantic drama about the quest for love and meaning in contemporary Oslo.***
👋 **Hey everyone**, we’re watching a film that revolves around Julie (a dazzling star-making central performance from **Renate Reinsve**), a vibrant and impulsive young woman who, on the verge of turning thirty, is faced with **a series of drastic choices** that force her to **continually reinvent** and pursue new perspectives on her life…
Over the course of several years, Julie navigates **multiple love affairs,** **existential uncertainty** and career dissatisfaction as she slowly starts deciding what she wants to do, who she wants to be with, and ultimately who she wants to become. [Trailer](https://youtu.be/w_cV1q02cyE)
Co-starring Trier regular **Anders Danielsen** Lie and **Herbert Nordrum** as the men pivoting around Julie’s magnetic presence.
**This is as much a formally playful character study as it is a poignant and perceptive observation of quarter-life angst. It’s a wry, life-affirming coming of age story.**
**See you guys at the meet up**

🌺🎬 ALL YOU NEED IS KILL (ÔRU YÛ NÎDO IZU KIRU)
***🌱 Reliving the same invasion, desperate to find a tomorrow…***
**👋 Hello guys!** It's time to dive into anime, one of my favourite genres! We’re watching **All You Need Is Kill**, a fresh anime adaptation of the Japanese light novel. While it shares core ideas that inspired **Tom Cruise's [Edge of Tomorrow](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vw61gCe2oqI)**, this is its own beast, crafted by the acclaimed **Studio 4°C** and directed by **Ken'ichirô Akimoto** and **Yukinori Nakamura**.
It premiered last year at the **[Annecy International Animation Film Festival](https://programme.annecyfestival.com/en/program/event/f63e3947-5aab-4d1f-8639-9b6497836fdc)**, and now we’re getting a full-on sci-fi thrill ride. The story follows Rita, a young volunteer trapped in a time loop during a bizarre alien plant invasion. Each time she’s killed by the monstrous creatures, the day resets, forcing her to sharpen her combat skills and search for a way out, alongside another looper, Keiji.
If that’s your vibe, we’ll meet directly at the **Prince Charles Cinema Bar** at **5:45pm** as this one’s got the earlier start! I’ll be in **seat D5**, but pick your favourite spot. Afterward that, drinks and a **[Letterboxd](https://letterboxd.com/movieroadhouse)** review are a must.
**Can’t wait to see you guys!**

👰🎬 THE DRAMA
***🤵Most weddings are not all sunshine… especially this one***
**Hey guys!** I think this film could be a great ride for the group. **The Drama**, written and directed by **Christopher Borgi**, has sparked significant controversy and debate due to it being marketed as a rom-com despite its heavy subject matter. The premise is about a blissfully happy couple whose relationship cracks during their wedding week after a shocking twist.
We’ll meet at the **Victory House Wine Bar at 6:20 pm**, then head over to **Vue Cinema Leicester Square for the 7:15 pm screening in Screen 4**. I’ll be in seat A6, and I recommend booking in advance where possible to avoid disappointment on the day.
Following the film, we'll meet again to review it and we should pick apart this film the same way we would a wedding couple.
**See you guys there,**

Columbus Comedy Improv Meetup at Gresso's!
Whether you've never done improv before, or you've done it for so long you knew Del Close on a personal level, or anywhere in between, come join us! Swing by *Gresso's* for the **Columbus Improv Comedy Meetup** for some fun and games!
The idea behind improv is to create entire scenes from scratch based on a suggestion from the audience. This can be done in game form, like *Whose Line Is It Anyway*, *ComedySportz*, or *Wild 'n Out*; it could also be done to tell stories, like *Middleditch and Schwartz*. Our meetup, which is central Ohio's longest running (and free!) weekly comedy event, brings the games (and occasionally different forms) for you to play in a safe, supportive, and compassionate environment. Not only is it a lot of fun, but you get to work on thinking faster on your feet, plus it's an excellent way to meet new people and make friendships that'll last a lifetime!
Ask yourself if you want to join the **Columbus Improv Comedy Meetup**, and say "Yes, And" that you'll have fun!

Comedy Night + Open Mic (Bring Wine)
**Comedy Night + Open Mic + Freestyle**: Tristan Shae and friends return to entertain us and to warm the group up for our open mic session. February's Open Mic / Comedy Night was a smash hit and it's worth a second night.
We'll start with Tristan Shae and a couple of his friends. Tristan is an alternative comic from Columbus, Ohio. A counselor by day, Tristan explores how comedy can improve mental health by telling jokes and stories that muse on how absurd life can be from squeaky clean topics to not so clean ones. Tristan produces the variety show Cheaper Than Therapy, hosts the weekly Problem Child Alt Comedy Open Mic at The Attic, and can be found engaging in all sorts of silliness around the city from stand up shows at The Nest Theater, The Attic, or The Funny Bone, to improv and sketch shows with various groups at various venues such as The Hashtag Comedy Club.
**On Freestyle night** \- just bring a bottle to share\. There is NO formal wine tasting like on other weeks\. Door charge is $10 \(cash or Venmo only please\)\. We may have some left over wines to clear out\! Glasses are provided\. Take Care\. See you there\.
**Parking**: There are several public parking lots near the Alive614 hall. Please be careful to NOT park in private parking lots. They do tow. Check Google maps to scope out your space. Anyone who is early could easily find a parking space on the street nearby. I am told that the Chase parking lot is safe after hours.
**Glasses**: …will be provided. Please note that after the wine tasting, the EMPTY glasses need to be returned to the boxes at the service table. Please do not make me hunt down your empty glass. Please be gentle, our glasses are fragile. Uh, they are made of glass!
**Food**: You are welcome to bring a snack to share. It is not required. Most people do though. If no one brings anything, there will be nothing.
**Code of Conduct**: Though mostly understood, it’s still worth mentioning. We don’t have rules per se, but we highly discourage the following topics of discussion because they are likely to incite anti-social responses - Sex, Politics, Religion. Please don’t mistake this as an attempt to limit your free speech rights but rather a guide to a place and time for appropriate discussions.
**After the lights go out**: After the last sip of wine, when we clean up and turn the lights out, if you still haven’t had enough of us, it is typical for a group to get together and go to a local eatery for food and/or drinks or coffee. Please join us.
Again, We look forward to meeting new members and reuniting with old friends.
Sincerely, ***Paul Uttermohlen***,
**Red 1 Realty**

Join us as we get together for a Discount Tuesday / Choose Your Movie event to see your choice of two great new films! Option 1 (and the one I'll be seeing) is the top-reviewed comedy-drama, THE CHRISTOPHERS! The film is set in the art world and follows the estranged children of a former artist who hire a forger. It is directed by Steven Soderberg, stars Ian McKellen and Michaela Coel and has been earning rave reviews on the indie circuit. Option 2 is the latest action-thriller starring Bob Odenkirk, NORMAL! The film follows a temporary small-town sheriff who uncovers dark mysteries after a local bank robbery. Here are descriptions, trailers and our plan for this event:
THE CHRISTOPHERS: The children of a once famous artist hire a forger to complete some unfinished, long ago abandoned canvases so they'll have a better inheritance when he dies. It is directed by Steven Soderbergh and stars Ian McKellen, Michaela Coel, Jessica Gunning and James Corden. BUZZ & ACCLAIM: The film is earning an excellent 97% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes where critics call it a “dynamic, emotional and surprising journey” and a “compelling chamber piece that works like intellectual comfort food.” Others call the film, an “incredibly funny, comedy drama with plot reversals that make it feel like it’s on the verge of a thriller!” TRAILER: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H79-EqzmdwY&t=20s
NORMAL: This action-crime-thriller follows a man who comes to the sleepy town of Normal, Minnesota to serve as the temporary sheriff. But a bank robbery leads him to a criminal underground reaches throughout the entire town. The film is directed by Ben Wheatley and stars Bob Odenkirk, Henry Winkler and Lena Headey. The film comes from the same team that brought us Nobody and the John Wick series, so expect an over-the-top, action-filled thrill ride! TRAILER: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rmm-lM33Qw0&t=19s
PLAN: We’ll plan for a 7pm-ish showing of both films and will meet in the lobby area about 30 minutes before showtime.
