CineTour Classics: Dr. Strangelove (1964) @ Filmmuseum (ENG)
CineTour Classics: Dr. Strangelove (1964) @ Filmmuseum (ENG)
First and foremost - join our Telegram Channel! [https://t.me/cinetour](https://t.me/cinetour) film about what could happen if the wrong person pushed the wrong button -- and it played the situation for laughs. U.S. Air Force General Jack Ripper goes completely insane, and sends his bomber wing to destroy the U.S.S.R. He thinks that the communists are conspiring to pollute the "precious bodily fluids" of the American people. \*\*\* *HOW* **If you can't find us before/after the movie, write me a PM (Farit, the host) or post a message to this event, I monitor it during the meetup and will pick you up.** Let’s meet at 19:00 at Stadtboden pub (Krugerstraße 8), have a couple of drinks, and shortly before 20:30 we will go together to Filmmuseum. Optionally you can join us even at the cinema. We recommend to buy a ticket as soon as possible! [Buy Tickets - Dr. Strangelove](https://www.filmmuseum.at/kinoprogramm/produktion?veranstaltungen_id=1776016270907) Usually, after the movie we just chat a bit about it for a moment in front of the cinema. So don't run away, if you don't have to. \*\*\* ABOUT THE VENUE Since its founding in 1964, the Austrian Film Museum has been dedicated to the preservation, study, and presentation of the medium of film. Its pursuits are as wide and varied as the medium itself: The Film Museum operates a cinema, manages a collection, and functions as a research and educational facility. The heart of the Film Museum is the "Invisible Cinema." Its unique architecture offers the ideal environment for concentrated and intense cinematic experiences. With few exceptions, films are always shown in their original formats from the best available prints and projected with utmost care. As film prints become increasingly rare (and ever more valuable), Filmmuseum continues to source them from their own collection as well as the collections of their international FIAF partners. #96

Seed7 - memory safety and management
Seed7 - memory safety and management
📢 Main event starts at 18:30 CET Join us for a deep dive into Seed7, a language shaped by Thomas Mertes’ decades-long pursuit of versatility, efficiency, and memory safety. Thomas will walk us through Seed7’s unique features: declarations, parameters, compile-time execution, parser mechanics, types as first-class citizens, templates, arrays, abstract data types, and the parser’s role in the run-time library. We’ll also look at the Seed7 Structured Syntax Definition, how semantic rules for constructs like for-loops are defined, and the Seed7 test suite. A live demo will follow. Memory safety and management are central topics. Thomas will discuss Seed7’s approach to performance, operating system guarantees, stack, heap, and global data, restrictions on memory access, safety opt-in and opt-out, handling unsafe code, and how Seed7 ensures safety. He’ll also cover OS function calls and string operations. Whether you’re curious about language design or interested in practical safety strategies, this session offers a clear look at Seed7’s architecture and philosophy. 🪙 We appreciate any **voluntary donations** on-site. ⏱️ Arrive early for pre-socializing—simple snacks and drinks will be provided. 🍕 After the event, we will relocate to a pizzeria (at your own expense).

We need to change venues occasionally due to other sceduled events, so be sure to check the location (If you get to the venue early, tell them you are with the "FILMMAKER'S GROUP" at 20:00- thanks) \*Meetup has more than doubled its fees for organizers planning events, to compensate for the added admin cost, we are putting out a tip jar at every event and asking for a 2-5€ donation per attendee. Not required, but definitely appreciated. PLEASE NOTE LOCATION: When: Tuesday at 20:00 where: Das Biero Florianigasse 46 1080 [https://www.das-biero.at/contact](https://www.das-biero.at/contact) --please be sure to sign up and cancel if you cannot make it, so we can be respectful to the venue.
Sunday Screenings in the Living Room
Sunday Screenings in the Living Room
Weekly screenings from a large archive of many of the most significant, yet seldom seen and rarely accessible cinematic masterpieces in the history of film - from its earliest beginnings to the present day. Screenings are in original language, if English, or original language with English subtitles. Films are selected democratically on the inspiration of a brief pre-screening discussion. The selected title is typically a "neglected gem" that most of us discover together for the first time. Individual taste is not a criterion and all participants are expected to put the interests of the group as a whole above personal preference or prejudice. In this sense, the emphasis is on openness, exploration, and surprise. Each screening is followed by an in-depth group discussion, led and moderated by the curator. WARNNG: FilmStory is not just about watching movies! Rather, it's a socially responsible, intellectual engagement, involving an organic approach to group study of film language, philosophy, art, history, politics, and technology. In this sense, the film is always merely the current highlight in an explorative, ongoing group discussion. **FilmStory** is a members-only series that involves a closely knit community of cinephiles. Events take place every Sunday in a comfortable, private setting with limited capacity. Participation is reserved primarily for regular members, but we're always ready to make new friends! Non-regular members may request to meet the community and, upon acceptance as a "new joiner," are welcome to participate in one event, according to space availability. New joiners are asked to make a €6 member dues contribution in advance of the requested date. New members receive a message of confirmation and the address of the Living Room in 1080 Vienna upon receipt of their dues contribution. **FilmStory** is presented and hosted by **[KulturSalon Wien](https://www.meetup.com/kultursalon-wien/)**.

Jules and Jim, the Book!
Jules and Jim, the Book!
By popular demand, the group wanted to read and discuss the semi-autobiographical novel by Henri-Pierre Roche, that inspired the Truffaut movie we watched last year. The book is available through the Columbus Library's interlibrary loan system. They reported there are twenty-eight copies available in the state of Ohio. If you have a library card, you can file an interlibrary loan request here: https://www.columbuslibrary.org/library-services/ . There are also used copies available on Amazon and eBay for under twenty dollars. You may want to rewatch the movie after reading the book, so we can compare and contrast in our discussion. The Columbus Library has four copies on DVD, and it's streaming on HBOMax.
