Let's go with the flow and do this wonderfully varied 10 mile coastal walk ! Please arrive by 9.50am so as to buy group train tickets for the 10.15am train that arrives at Benfleet at 11.03am. Train tickets : Return to Southend Central. Or you may decide to drive. Please bring packed lunch ( or have fish and chips in the pub ), water, snacks etc plus waterproof jacket and walking shoes or trainers. If you decide to have fish and chips at The Peterboat please make a reservation for 1.30pm - 01702 475666 - and then place a comment on the event page stating whether it's a table for say 2, 4, 6 etc You should be able to walk at 2.5 miles per hour and have adequate and appropriate insurance for this type of activity. The walk shall commence by 11.15am. We shall first walk along the estuary to Leigh on Sea - visiting the remains of Hadleigh Castle along the way. Meetup fee £8 payable in cash or £6 by Saturday in advance by bank transfer, details supplied upon request. At Southend we shall walk the length of the pier there and back. It stars returning cast members Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci along with newcomers Justin Theroux and Kenneth Branagh. The Forge does have a full bar and kitchen. There is no cover charge but they do request all attendees to purchase a minimum of ~20 per person. Soft drink refills are 1 each. Please support our hosts so we can continue to provide great events for the group! The Forge has a large library of games available for us to enjoy. Hosts and regulars will also provide numerous popular games but please bring any games you would like to teach and/or play. Doors open at 6, and we expect gaming to be rolling by around 630. Please promptly end your games and clear out the space at 10pm when the bar closes. We encourage socializing but do not permit disruptive behavior of any kind. There is additional parking lot behind the neighboring Mexican restaurant that is free and easy to walk from but it's a bit hidden.

We meet to learn and practice American Sign Language and to grow our familiarity with Deaf culture. Facilitated by hearing folks (with a connection to a professional interpreter) using Deaf-created content. People of all ASL skill levels are welcome!
