We are a multi-disciplinary group of PhDs and academic staff who write together regularly and help one another to achieve our writing goals through supportive community, focus and a structure that works. We welcome anyone who wants to get some writing done in a collegial, supportive, encouraging environment. You don’t have to be from University of Melbourne (you don’t have to be from university at all!). We use the Pomodoro method, which means we write in timed intervals of silence, then chat and catch up for 5 mins and repeat the cycle. Arrive when you like, leave when you like. **[[WHAT]]** This session is for social volleyball games where there will be 3 teams of 6 per court across 3 courts. Please arrive on time as there will warm-up time provided for 20-25 minutes at 1 PM while the hosts set up the nets. Games will be played to 15 points, teams will queue in and fill into the next game where possible after playing 2 games in a row. **[[WHO]]** The session is intended for social volleyball players at the intermediate level. Players should: * Understand basic volleyball rules (3 touches, foot faults, etc.) * Call for the ball when playing and communicate well * Ready to learn (or already know) 5-1 system * Efficient in passing/hitting/setting/serving * Have minimal unforced errors (missed serves, etc..) * Have control over their play around the net and centre line If you are uncomfortable with the base fundamentals, we recommend coming to our beginner training sessions on Friday 6-9PM or Saturday 2-5PM. **[[HOW MUCH]]** $21 card payment will be collected on the day via square (EFTPOS) payment. Payments will be collected prior to game play during warm up. **[[WHEN]]** Sunday afternoon from 1 PM- 4 PM. Join us for a tour of Brothers Drake Meadery in Grandview, hosted by the owner Oron Benary. He will explain the mead-making process and offer us generous samples of their fine meads. Mead is basically wine that is made from honey instead of grapes. There are many different flavors that range from dry, semi-dry, semi-sweet, to sweet. They are best known for their Apple Pie Mead. Oron has offered us a special price of 5.00 each person for the tour and tasting, which is normally 25.00 per person. I've taken the tour several times, and it's always enlightening and fun. Rebecca will bring a tea that will pair well with the mead for a tea tasting afterwards. Park anywhere around the building. Please avoid parking in front of the houses in the neighborhood behind the Meadery. Please keep your RSVP current. This is an in-person meeting. Did you know that unwanted emotions like loneliness, sadness, hopelessness, anger, fear, anxiety, or feelings of irritation don’t just fall on you for no reason. They are not random occurrences that simply happen to people's minds. They are definitely not chemical imbalance in your brain due to some nebulous chemical reactions by chance. Your negative emotions are the symptoms of the painful experiences that you have which are not healed, and which are still affecting you. The effects of these painful experiences are exacerbated by the pressures or difficulties of the other problems in your life. For instance, let's say you are already carrying a huge load on your back, then you cannot take on much more, but, let's say something else happens to you, such as the difficulties from the Pandemic, then the resultant combined weight on you can take you over the edge, kind of like the straw that break the camel's back. When this happens, people's attention usually goes to the straw that was added, but actually the majority of the weight had come from the huge load that were already there, holding a person down and causing a person issues.
