Dinner at Hawksmoor St Pancras with BYO
Dinner at Hawksmoor St Pancras with BYO
Hawksmoor is an award-winning chain of British steakhouses and cocktail bars, serving British grass-fed, dry-aged beef and sustainably sourced seafood. Giles Coren praised it as "great, great steak. Best you’ll find anywhere....'. The newest restaurant in the group is 'A London icon inside a London icon'. Hawksmoor St Pancras brings Hawksmoor's obsession over steak, seafood and cocktails to Sir George Gilbert Scott’s Grade I-listed Gothic Revival masterpiece. Alongside one of London's most stunning, grandest dining rooms there is an incredible high-ceilinged bar and terrace. The menu at Hawksmoor focuses on meat, though not exclusively as there are fish and vegetarian options. We'll be having the **a la carte menu** https://thehawksmoor.com/locations/st-pancras/food/menu/ As well as the amazing food, **on Mondays Hawksmoor offers** **BYO for £5 per bottle corkage,** and for our table of 8 people I will take **6 bottles with an average retail cost of £20.** As the menu is meat-heavy, I will take 1 bottle of champagne or equivalent quality sparkling wine, 2 white wines, and **3 red wines** (but no dessert wine). With typical restaurant mark-ups these wines would cost £60+ on their wine list, so this is a great opportunity to enjoy delicious food accompanied by fine wines without paying restaurant prices (for the wine that is!). The pre-pay for this event is £58 which includes:- \- the 6 bottles of BYO wine \- corkage fees on the wine \- £30 credit towards your food bill \- paypal/meetup fees The wine which I will take is an integral of this event so please do NOT ask if you can attend if you are not happy to share in all 6 bottles of wine. On the evening you will pay for the balance of your food bill and any additional drinks you order. **Please note that Meetup now charge an additional fee to attendees on top of the price which the Organiser sets. This fee is paid direct to Meetup and is beyond our control.** **REFUND POLICY:** If you cancel your place by Friday 10th latest you will get a refund of £55 but, IMPORTANT PLEASE NOTE, only if there is someone on the 'waitlist' who books and pays for your place. **TRANSPORT:** The nearest station is Kings Cross **WAITLIST:** If this event is fully booked and you would like to attend if someone cancels, post a comment in the event to let me know that you are interested. Cheers, Christos

Standup Comedy Course - 5 Classes with a Showcase Gig
Have you ever wanted to try stand up? Learn some comedy techniques? Do you want to have a life changing experience which will dramatically change your confidence, make you funnier and more attractive? Or want to laugh a lot and have fun? This course is Ideal for wellbeing, confidence building and looking at life in a lighter way. Do not worry that you are not creative. Many comedy techniques require NO creativity at all. Also do not worry if you are not the loud expressive one in the group. Comedy is about your own personal view of the world not necessarily performance based expression. Discover your funny bone at our hugely popular comedy writing course with BBC-featured coach, TV actor and comedian **Fun, lively 5-week sit-down comedy course at the charming Chez Nous Café in Belsize Park.** Led by Bentley Browning: TV actor, comedian and professional David Cameron lookalike, seen on ITV’s *The Hack*. Other credits include *The Last Leg*, *The Alan Titchmarsh Show* and *Take Me Out*. This course is designed to help you discover your authentic comic voice - even if you’ve never written a joke or performed before. A relaxed venue, great coffee and cakes and plenty of laughs - the perfect setting to gently ease into comedy. **This is a writing-only course:** there’s no performing during the sessions, so you can focus on learning without pressure. You’ll finish with your own material, a clearer sense of your comedic voice, and — if you choose to perform — the thrill of trying it out in front of a live audience. **Perfect for absolute beginners, curious first-timers and comedy fans.** More experienced comedians wanting a refresher are welcome too. **COURSE DETAILS** Dates: Mondays – 13 April, 20 April , 27 April, 4 May, 11 May Time: 7.00 – 8.45pm Venue: Chez Nous Café, 157 Haverstock Hill, London NW3 4QT Showcase: Sunday 24 May at The Washington Pub, Belsize Park **ONLY 10 PLACES AVAILABLE - ADVANCE BOOKING ESSENTIAL.** www.roxcomedy.com **Cost** The cost of this 5 week course with your own showcase gig is £165 ONLY!(Early Bird Price at moment will increase). Fiction Feedback Workshop
Fiction Feedback Workshop
Writers, learn more about writing fiction well through our constructive feedback, comradery and lively discussion. You'll be amazed at what you can learn by listening, and sharing your own words once you feel ready. No pressure. In our regular feedback workshops, we have three writers sharing a sample of their writing for immediate feedback, advice and encouragement. Critique is led and moderated by your host Lisa Goll. Listening to the writing of others and the feedback their piece receives on the night is how we learn. We've been running these sessions since 2010 and there's a reason they fill up so fast! Usually, our workshops are limited to a group of 15 writers in total. Three reading; the rest listening, commenting and giving feedback. For people reading, pieces must be **3,500 words or less** as you'll have about 45mins for reading and discussion on your excerpt from around the table. Most people bring 3,500 words from their novel or a short story of all genres and styles. If you'd like to read, please **post a comment below**. ***You must have booked your place before making a request to read.*** If you are reading, **please bring enough printed copies (at least 10)** of your pages so members can make additional feedback/editing notes for you during the reading. All copies will be returned to you after the feedback has concluded. New members are always welcome in these groups. Most people come along to a few sessions before offering feedback, commenting or requesting to read but it's up to you. If you want to read right away, great, but if you want to come along and see how we roll first, that makes sense too. Again, you'll be surprised by how much you can learn from others by listening to the pieces and their feedback. After the workshop, most of us head to the bar for a social drink or two and extended conversation about the highs and woes of writing. **TICKETS:** £15.00 and please follow the steps to pay via PayPal when you RSVP. Ticket price pays for workshop fees, planning, hosting and organising which involve time and effort. A community of 4,500+ writers takes time to manage. PLEASE NOTE: Refunds or credits will only be provided if the workshop is cancelled by us. We cannot offer refunds or credit for another session if you decide not to attend on the day. **Please change your RSVP if you no longer plan to attend.** We often have people on the waiting list and we'd hate for others to miss out. Location: **The Sutton Arms EC1,** 6 Carthusian St, Barbican, London EC1M 6EB. Closest stations are Barbican, Farringdon and Moorgate. Use the official Meetup app to update your RSVPs, check what's on and last-minute notifications about our events as they happen to your phone. [Download it now](https://www.meetup.com/apps/). These workshops are hosted by me - Lisa Goll, Boss Lady at London Writers' Cafe - I'm a publishing professional with more than twenty years of working within the publishing industry. Added to that, I've been leading LWC workshops for writers since 2010 too. See more about [me on LinkedIn](https://www.linkedin.com/in/lisagoll/) or Insta me @LisasShare @LondonWritersCafe Question? Dinner & a Movie: MICHAEL at Cinemark Stoneridge!
Dinner & a Movie: MICHAEL at Cinemark Stoneridge!
Join us for a fun Dinner & a Movie event as we get together to see MICHAEL + Dinner at CAP City! The film is directed by Antoine Fuqua and stars Jaafar Jackson (Michael Jackson’s nephew) as the King of Pop! Early buzz is strong for what should be an excellent musical-biopic! Here are details, a trailer and plan for this event: DESCRIPTION: This biographical musical drama follows the life of Michael Jackson, from his time with the Jackson 5 to his early solo career! Highlighting both his life off-stage and some of the most iconic performances from his early solo career, the film gives audiences a front-row seat to Michael Jackson as never before. Jaafar Jackson (Michael Jackson’s nephew) stars in the title role alongside Nia Long, Laura Harrier, Juliano Krue Valdi, Miles Teller and Colman Domingo. TRAILER: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mbtgEE6rkxw](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mbtgEE6rkxw) MOVIE PLAN: Please purchase your ticket for the 3:35pm showing and meet inside the theater lobby between 3:10 and 3:20pm. Tickets already on sale and advance purchase as soon as possible is advised! Once you have yours, please list your seat number in the Comments section of this event! DINNER PLAN: Dinner immediately following the movie (around 6pm) at nearby CAP City Fine Diner! Seating is limited for the dinner portion of this event, so separate RSVP required. If you plan to join for Dinner AND the movie, please be sure to RSVP in both places. CAP CITY FINE DINER: This upscale diner from Cameron Mitchell is known its “retro-cool” atmosphere, modern twists on classic comfort food and their “showstopper” desserts! The menu reimagines nostalgic dishes like meatloaf, beef stroganoff, and pot roast with gourmet twists. The menu also offers vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options with lots of apps, cocktails, salads, sandwiches, burgers (including a black bean veggie burger), the most welcome return of their Veggie Plate (with Hummus) and more. CMG Gives Back: Serve Brunch at FAITH MISSION GRANT KITCHEN!
Join us as we get together to get together to help those in need at this CMG Gives Back event! We have a great little community of Movie Group friends so rather than see a movie this time, we’ll help “create a better world” by helping serve those in need. Here are complete details and our plan for this event: FAITH MISSION – GRANT KITCHEN: The Faith Mission kitchen and dining room serves residents 3 meals a day, every day of the year. For this event, our group will help prepare food, serve meals, assist residents in the dining room, wash dishes, and clean surfaces. PLAN: We will be preparing / serving / cleaning for BRUNCH from 10:30am to 12:30pm and have space for a total of 7 volunteers. Please arrive at 10:20am and wear closed-toe shoes and long pants. LOCATION: Faith Mission – Grant Kitchen is located at 245 N. Grant Ave. Enter the kitchen at Dock 1 (in the back of the building), indicated in the attached map. On-site parking in the adjacent lot and street parking is available in the surrounding area. Below are some links / attachments with additional info/details: IMPORTANT REMINDER: Our group will be providing all of the volunteers on this day so a firm RSVP count is essential. Please only sign up if you are certain you’ll be able to attend. If something unavoidable comes up, please try to update your RSVP no later than one week prior to the event. With few exceptions, no shows or cancelations within 1 week of the event will not be eligible for future CMG Gives Back events. I appreciate your understanding as we try to ensure the agencies have the volunteers needed to provide the essential services they provide to the vulnerable population they serve. Our Partner Agency for this event is Lutheran Social Services! A huge THANK YOU to all of YOU for volunteering at this (and any of our previous) CMG Gives Back events! Should be a good/fun/meaningful time together, Dan
