https://canvas.workhousearts.org/classes/1291## Description
QiGong is an ancient art of movement and means (Qi) 'vital life force energy' and (Gong) 'work' - consisting of gentle exercises, involving body, mind and breath.
Each class is structured by specific sets of gentle exercises to warm up and mobilize joints, expand the range of motion, help purge intercellular waste, clear stuck or stagnant energy, build strength, and cultivate energy conservation.
By the end of each class the participants will have a heightened sense of wellbeing through calm, centered body-mind awareness which will build with practice over time.
QiGong has many benefits:- Eases muscle tension
- Reduces stress
- Enhances energy flow and circulation
- Improves neuromuscular connection
- Clears the mind
- Boosts mood
- Stimulates the body's natural relaxation response
- Balances emotion
- Enhances the ability to focus
- Improves posture, balance and joint mobility.
Students are invited to dress in loose, comfortable clothing. Please bring comfortable tennis shoes, socks that grip, soft-soled dance shoes, or slippers.

### Iris McCray
Iris McCray has a deep-rooted appreciation for the calm centeredness QiGong offers. While she was getting familiar with this art since 2002, it was when she found her right teacher decades later where she committed to consistent practice and become a teacher herself.
She is now trained and certified as an Integrative QiGong Instructor as well as Medical QiGong Instructor and will further advance on the path of lifelong learning. She teaches weekly at her Sound Works Studio with auspicious outcomes for her students and is highly motivated and equally excited to bring this gift to as many people as possible at the Workhouse Arts Center.
In a time, where mental faculties are heavily emphasized - it entails a choice to reconnect and cultivate the wholeness we are through simple yet keen practices to ground our bodies and harmonize the energy distribution within and around us.
Beyond QiGong, Iris provides monthly Sound Baths at the Workhouse Arts Center & Sound Healing Services and events in her studio in Manassas. You can find out more about her: https://www.meetup.com/joy2b-sound-works-studio-meetup-group/ or email Iris to: TheJOY2B@gmail.com1 participant
