What is the Melbourne Bicycle Touring Club?
MBTC brings together like-minded people keen to share their experience. We’re a great club for anyone interested in exploring longer-distance bike travel, including camping and overnighters.
What is bicycle touring?
Bicycle touring (some might call it bikepacking) is all about experiencing the world on two wheels. Scenery, sightseeing and socialising are an integral part of our rides, and we love a good bakery (or cafe or market or pub).
Please be aware that everyone is riding at their own risk and the club does not take responsibility for any injuries or accidents you may have on any of our rides.

5 participantsKerang - Cohuna- Echuca, 110 kms, Intermediate/Hard
Southern Cross Railway Station, Southern Cross Station, Docklands, AUIf you're a MBTC financial member you're welcome!
An easy, if somewhat, long ride skirting some creeks & rivers in central Victoria. First day: 36.0 ks; second day: 74 ks.
We'll take the 7.40 am train to Swan Hill arriving to Kerang at 11.40 am, we'll go for a coffee/early lunch before we set off to Cohuna (a seldom visited town) for luxury accommodation:(https://www.airbnb.com.au/rooms/1424512574190580042?viralityEntryPoint=1&s=76).
Overnight accomodation fee is $ 358.51 so we'll divide this amount equally between the riding group.
The next day, we'll have an early breakfast and get provisions for the day as there aren't any shops/water along the route.
We'll be following Gunbower creek; Deep creek and finally Murray river mainly in gravel tracks until we cycle the last 15 ks on a highway with wide shoulders.
We need to get to Echuca before 4.05 pm as this is the last train to Melbourne, arriving at 7.30 pm
Check route here (give or take a couple of wrong turns): https://ridewithgps.com/routes/52547043
The route is 66 % paved, so there is some gravel to contend with.
So bring your in good condition bike, we suggest 32+ mm tires, also bring warm clothing as temperatures could be low.
We'll keep a steady pace, stopping often to regroup.
No one left behind policy applies, but you need to keep yourself properly fueled and hydrated through the ride. A healthy breakfast will also help you to keep up with the riding group.RIDE REGISTRATION FORM
