For the person that asked about using XMPP instead of Cron/Tasks for getting the Twitter updates in Kritter, that is just not possible at this time for the type of single account application that Kritter is. The only XMPP support from Twitter is not publicly available and to the few clients it is made available it is done as "fire hose" access to the entire public stream. The only other option to the Twitter REST APIs that I was demonstrating is the currently "alpha" streaming APIs for Twitter. That is what I thought the question was regarding the other night, and, the use of the streaming APIs would be problematic with GAE due to the need for a long running connection to use the streaming API.
