ChiTownBio is dedicated to putting the knowledge, skills, and tools of biotechnology into the hands of all Chicagoans who want to explore the living world and use it to benefit our community. Understanding the biotechnology needs of the future requires knowing what problems we're facing and what we need to be focusing on it. One of the biggest problems facing our planet and the biological world is the overuse of and waste buildup from plastics. What exactly does that mean, and what can we do about it? Rather than just talk about it, let's go out and do something about it.
As the weather gets warmer, we're hosting an event with the Alliance for the Great Lakes cleaning up a local beach, trying to figure out what waste is out there, and then discussing the implications of what we find. Join us for a day at the beach and fun in the sun. Our members and organizers will be there answering questions and sharing information in a socially distant manner.
This time, we're partnering with the group ChiPride to clean up one of Chicago's most iconic beaches! We'd love to have you join us in learning about ecology, data collection, and making the world a better place.

Network over a drink with Chicago's biotechnology professionals and build a community of biotechnologists, entrepreneurs, investors, and enthusiasts. We are excited to be continuing our series of networking opportunities and to discuss challenges, opportunities, and frustrations of working in biotechnology while enjoying an evening with your professional peers from around Chicagoland.
We are heading back to visit our old friends at HappiLabs. HappiLabs is a local, small business that provides digital products and services to scientists, with their feature product being the Virtual Lab Manager and a growing ecommerce store for lab supplies. Their mission is to improve the happiness of scientists and the quality of their research. The event will be an outdoor event taking place at 2201 West Campbell Park Dr. Thank you to HappiLabs for hosting the event at their location! HappiLabs will also be providing pizzas and light refreshments for the evening, so this will be a great night of exciting people in an amazing environment. Open mic opportunities for entrepreneurs and a networking social will be led by organizers from CHIentist and ChiTownBio.

Weather permitting, this event will be held outdoors in the courtyard. We'll have drinks, lawn games, and a great community of scientists!
In the case of inclement weather, we will be inside in a common space.

- This event will be BYOB. Please feel free to bring your own drinks if you would like, but we will be providing some beverages

- There will be ample, free street parking available on streets surrounding the venue

- The venue is about 2 blocks from the Illinois Medical District Blue Line stop
