Edinburgh Language Exchange (ELE)

A place to make new friends, socialise and learn about languages and culture in friendly language-focused mini-meetups!

The Edinburgh Language Exchange aims to foster a community of individuals interested in exchanging experiences and knowledge on languages, travel and culture, from all over the world. Our Code of Conduct sets out the basic Be-Nice rules, to ensure a convivial and inclusive atmosphere!

We strive to ensure our meetups are open to everybody, whatever their language experience - it's not your level that counts, it's all about the desire to communicate!

We host several meetup events as of 2023 :

* All-languages: pub meetup on Wednesday evenings - a self-organising social where you can come and chat and exchange language skills, cultural discussion, and make friends.
* French, Italian, Spanish or English: cafe meetup on Saturday mornings - a hosted social for people to meet in the quiet of a cafe to start the week-end with a smile, exchanging language skills, learn from others, teach others, over coffee, tea and maybe some viennoiseries or cake ;-)
* Spot meetups organised by members who have their own passion for languages - cafe events, walks, cinema outings... if you would like to have your own language-oriented event and announce to the group, get in touch !
