Sarasota Walkers Meetup

If you are new please introduce yourself to the host so that they can help you get acquainted!! This is a WALK at your OWN PACE type of walk. This walk has a faster group that takes about 60 minutes and a slower group that takes about 70 minutes to complete the walk. If you are just starting out, consider going to the top of the bridge and then wait for the group to come back, OR just turn around at the top (or anywhere YOU think is best) and meetup at O’Leary’s. The rest of the group will trickle in at O'Leary's, after the walk, at their own pace.
Meet at the Sailor Statue (Unconditional Surrender) for the start of the walk. Make some new friends and enjoy the sunset! . The statue is located in front of the Freedom Boat Club. (Also just to the left of the driveway into Marina Jack's)

Join us for a nature walk at Oscar Scherer Park followed by lunch at Evies at Spanish Point. This will be a leisurely walk through the woods and near the lakes. Those who want a longer , more challenging walk through the sandy terrain can choose to do that. In the past we try to get to the restaurant no later than 11:30. If you are unable to walk but would like to lunch, be sure to sign up and leave me a message. There is a small entry fee.

This is a 4 mile round trip. We will meet at the Venetian Waterway Trailhead, Island side of Circus Bridge. Put the address "615 Airport Ave E, Venice, FL 34285" into your navigation system and follow around until you get to the trailhead parking (gravelish road towards the end). We will be leaving at 6 PM precisely, so plan to arrive a few minutes early. We will be walking south along the Venetian Waterway down to Casperson Beach, which can only be accessed via foot or bicycle. Walk at your own pace and bring water if needed as there are no facilities or water along the way. The walk takes about 1.5 hours, with about a 5-10 minute stop at the beach.
