VI. BQG Meetup - Neural Network Deamericanization
VI. BQG Meetup - Neural Network Deamericanization
Join the next Budapest Quant Group meetup for an exciting presentation by **Gábor Vigh, Director at MQA, Citi**, on cutting-edge machine learning methods in quantitative finance. The event concludes with networking. **Abstract:** Accurate and efficient calibration of equity volatility surfaces is fundamental to equity derivative pricing. When markets quote only American option prices, this task becomes significantly more complex. We present a neural network-based approach that overcomes these challenges, delivering calibration results while reducing the computational burden of conventional approaches. **Mandatory registration:** please send a mail to the following address: kinga.doktor@citi.com, with the following details: * name * company * job title **Agenda** * 18:30-19:00 Reception. Meditation (English)
Meditation (English)
Practice Buddhist meditation in the middle of Budapest! The meditation is suitable for beginners. Each regular meditation is guided and begins with a short introduction. (all together is about 30-40 minutes) Our regular Buddhist meditations have proven popular with people who want to integrate authentic Buddhist methods into their daily lives. For the modern lay person who is juggling work, relationships, and an active role in society, we teach a meditation that is easy to learn, and profound and powerful for experienced practitioners. The meditation originates from the Karma Kagyu tradition of Tibetan Buddhism. It has a cumulative effect on mind, leading to greater clarity and calmness. Fearlessness, joy, and active compassion are the result of regular practice of Buddhist meditation. * Do I need any special clothing? No special clothing needed. * Does the attendance cost anything? No, the meditation is free.
Thursday Morning Flow
Thursday Morning Flow
[Please register via this link if you’d like to join!✨](https://www.sanctuary.hu/service-page/thursday-morning-flow-08-15-en?referral=service_list_widget) This morning Flow class is a light, continuous practice designed to gently awaken and energize the body for the day ahead. We don’t stay in one pose for too long — movement is guided by the breath, creating a steady rhythm and a sense of flow throughout the class. The pace is soft and seamless, helping the mind settle while gradually building warmth, strength, and mobility. The practice supports releasing stiffness, increasing circulation, and creating space for clarity, focus, and a grounded start to the morning. We close the class with soothing stretches after the dynamic sequence, allowing both the body and nervous system to soften and reset before moving into the rest of the day. Each class follows a weekly changing theme, offering a fresh focus and a new experience every time you step onto the mat.

Pranayama & Meditation 19:00/EN
Pranayama & Meditation 19:00/EN
In this session, we dive into Pranayama, (an ancient practice to discover the flow of energy within) and the power of conscious breathing, which is one of the most important aspects of the original yogic lifestyle. On these Tuesday evenings, we do more than just a breathwork session: this is an opportunity to explore a true harmony between our breath & the mind - body connection. We begin with a 15-minute chest-opening yoga sequence to gently expand our lungs and prepare for deeper breathing (no need for gym clothes though, just an open mind). Then, we explore different breathing techniques designed for self-awareness, relaxation, and energy flow. These classes are designed to help you discover how breath can be a tool to balance, energize, and center yourself. To close, we immerse in a short yet profound "silent concert", a meditative sound journey where 174 Hz sound waves or white noise guide us into a state of deep harmony. Whether emotions are light or heavy, thoughts are clear or clouded, this is a space to simply be and find some peace. Könyvhét & Könyves Duma | Book Week & Casual Book Chat
Könyvhét & Könyves Duma | Book Week & Casual Book Chat
**English below ----------------------** Ez most az első picit kötetlenebb könyves eseményünk lesz. **15:20 - 17:00 – Könyves duma a Városháza Parkban** Letelepedünk a parkban, ahol picit átbeszéljük a könyvheti élményeket, meg persze jöhet a kötetlen beszélgetés bármilyen könyvről. A hivatalos részét 17:00-kor zárjuk, de utána is ott lehet maradni tovább, ameddig van kedvünk sztorizni. Gyertek, nézzünk szét, aztán dumáljunk egy jót a parkban! **English version / International attendees:** This is our first casual, free-form event. Instead of discussing a specific book, we’ll visit the Festive Book Week together and see how this format works. * **14:00 – Meetup:** Near the Vörösmarty statue. Look for a bigger group and a guy holding a **Moby Dick** book. We'll do a quick intro and share what everyone wants to check out. * **14:15 – Heading out:** We'll explore the stands in smaller groups. If you're late, just drop a comment here and catch up with us later. * **15:00 – Re-grouping:** At the Little Princess Statue (Kiskirálylány) at Vigadó Square, followed by a 10-minute walk to Városháza Park. * **15:20 - 17:00 – Book Chat:** We'll settle down in Városháza Park to talk about our Book Week finds and books in general. The official event ends at 17:00, but feel free to stay longer! > 🌍 **Language note:** Since this is a local event, most attendees will likely speak Hungarian, but the organizers and many of us speak fluent English. Feel free to join us, we are happy to chat in English and make sure you're included!

(szombat) 10:00-11:00

Battle of the personal agents
Battle of the personal agents
Join the Columbus AI community for a special event. **Battle of the Personal Agents** is your chance to see what people are actually building with AI agents and personal automation systems. Whether you’re running OpenClaw, Hermes, or a completely custom solution, bring your agent and show the community how it works. We’re interested in real-world implementations: the problems your agent solves, how you use it day-to-day, how it’s hosted and managed, how you built it, and why you’ve chosen to keep using it. Live demonstrations are encouraged, so be prepared to show your code, architecture, workflows, and your agent performing real tasks. This is less about polished presentations and more about sharing practical experience, comparing approaches, and learning from one another. If you’d like to present, please contact Chris Slee (via meetup) before the event so we can allocate enough time for everyone’s demonstrations. Come ready to show what you’ve built, discover what others are doing, and maybe find a few ideas worth taking home. Whether you’re deep in the field or just getting curious, come connect with others building and exploring AI in Columbus. Sponsored by [Transform Labs](https://www.linkedin.com/company/transformlabs/) Sign up also accessible via [Transform Labs Luma](https://luma.com/transformlabshq)

AI Agents 101: How to Make ChatGPT Do Actual Work
AI Agents 101: How to Make ChatGPT Do Actual Work
Most people still use AI like a search box: type one question, get one answer, repeat. But the next step is AI agents: systems that can take a goal, break it into steps, use tools, remember context, and produce useful work for a human to review. In this beginner-friendly session, we’ll demystify what AI agents actually are — without hype or jargon. We’ll walk through practical examples of how agents can help with research, planning, writing, coding, operations, and personal productivity. We’ll cover: * What makes an AI “agent” instead of just a chatbot * How agents break tasks into steps * Where agents are genuinely useful today * Where they fail, hallucinate, or need human review * How to design simple AI workflows for your own work * A live demo of an AI agent-style workflow from start to finish No coding experience required. This is for anyone who wants to understand where AI tools are going and how to use them more effectively right now. LOGISTICS AND PARKING: The talk starts at 7:00 PM. The first half hour is reserved for everyone to get set up and mingle. Free pizza and drinks! The cheapest parking option is to find street parking, which will only cost you a few bucks. Otherwise, park in the nearby veteran's museum lot for $8. It's highly recommended you avoid the nearby $15 garage parking.
