Stay profitable & Avoid risk in 2026 plus THE NEW OHIO WHOLESALING LAW
The market has changedโand pretending it hasnโt is expensive.
At our **January COREE meeting**, learn the real strategies local investors are using to stay profitable, reduce risk, and avoid the mistakes that are causing others to quit.
PLUS: A critical update on the **new Ohio wholesale law** and how it affects you.
โ ๏ธ RSVP on Meetup does **NOT** register you.

Vision Loss Support Group: AT Ohio
Bill Darling, Director of Assistive Technology Ohio (AT Ohio), will address the purpose and function of AT Ohio. Of particular interest to our group is likely their Device Lending Library.
As taken from their website, AT Ohio's mission is to help Ohioans with disabilities learn about or acquire assistive technology. Assistive Technology refers to devices, equipment or services that assist individuals with disabilities to function independently in the areas of work, home or school.
AT Ohio is NOT a grants-giving or funding organization. They do not assist in financing the purchase of any assistive technology. If you need funding for a device, they might be able to direct you to resources that may provide funding, but they do not fund devices.
Target audience for this group is persons who are visually impaired, especially those who have experienced recent loss, however, all are welcome, including family members and supports. Light refreshments will be served.
You can also join the meeting by Conference Call at (518) 263-8851.
Oscar Watch International: THE SECRET AGENT at the Gateway Film Center!
Join us as we get the New Year started with one of the best films of the year: THE SECRET AGENT! This political thriller from Brazil is set in 1977 where a man flees from a mysterious past and returns to his hometown but soon finds the city is far from being the refuge he seeks. Hereโs a description, trailer and plan for this event:
DESCRIPTION: In 1977, a former professor flees from a mysterious past and returns to his hometown of Recife in search of peace. He soon realizes that the city is far from being the refuge he seeks. The film stars Wagner Moura, Carlos Francisco, Tรขnia Maria, Robรฉrio Diรณgenes, Maria Fernanda Cรขndido, Gabriel Leone and Udo Kier in his final film role.
TRAILER: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9UfrzDKrhEc
BUZZ & ACCLAIM: The Secret Agent was the most awarded film at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival where it won Best Actor for Wagner Moura, Best Director for Mendonรงa Filho, the Art House Cinema Award and the FIPRESCI Prize. At this yearโs Golden Globes, it became Brazilโs first film ever to be nominated for Best Film (Drama)! It also received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Foreign Film, a Best Actor nomination for Wagner Moura and was selected as Brazilโs entry for Best International Film at this yearโs Academy Awards. The film is receiving an incredible 99% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes where critics say, its โcompelling script, impeccable acting, and striking 1970s aestheticโ make it โimpossible to look away!โ Critics say The Secret Agent is โone of the few standout movies of the yearโ and the Chicago Tribune calls it a โmasterpiece of a filmโ and โthe best film of the year!โ
PARKING: Close, convenient parking is available in the nearby garage (located between 9th and 11th, just off High St). Bring your ticket with you and have it validated at the theater and for $2, youโre covered for the night!
PLAN: Details for this event have been confirmed! A bit of a good news/bad news situation with the showtime. I was afraid it may disappear before we got a chance to see it! Its down to one showing at one theater. Showtime is a little early but if you can make it work, I think itโll be worth our while! Please purchase your ticket for the 4:45pm showing at weโll meet in the upstairs lobby between 4:25 and 4:35pm! At this time, tickets available via the Gateway website only! Advance purchase is advised! Once you have yours please list your seat number in the Comments below.
Happy New Year and look forward to seeing you there, Dan
Powell Gold Star Referral Club Meetup
We meet at lunch each week and each meeting follows a fairly organized agenda. First all participants pass their business cards around. Then each member and guest is invited to give a one-minute overview of their company and what is a perfect referral for the week. We always have a 10 minute presentation from one of the members about their business in more detail. And finally we pass referrals. You're welcome to visit. Nobody is ever put on the spot. Bring plenty of cards!

Session Abstract
**Data on Fire: A Hands-On Intro to Spark in Fabric**
Curious about Apache Spark but not sure where to start? This hands-on session introduces you to Spark in Microsoft Fabric Notebooksโa powerful and accessible way to process and analyze big data using familiar tools in the Microsoft ecosystem.
Weโll break down key Spark concepts like distributed computing, DataFrames, and lazy evaluation, then show how they come to life inside Fabricโs notebook experience. Youโll see practical demos that cover loading, transforming, and analyzing large datasetsโwhile leveraging Fabricโs modern data stack, including OneLake, Dataflows, and Pipelines.
Youโll also learn how to choose between Spark and pure Python notebooks in Fabric, based on execution needs, data integration, and use case fit.
Whether you're a SQL pro, BI developer, or data engineer, this session will give you the tools and confidence to start using Spark in your own projectsโno cluster management required.
\*Please note, that we will be using Microsoft Teams for the online portion of this meeting. You may want to join a few minutes early to ensure you do not have any issues. If you are attending in person, there are large TVs at the office, and you do not need to bring a laptop or use Teams.

Speak Easy (Storytelling)
The topic for January is "Chemistry"
Speak Easy: true stories, told live.
The idea is simple: an audience, an open microphone, and great stories. Hilarious, gripping, poignant- it's up to you. Audiences are invited to come to listen or come to tell as folks from all corners of Columbus offer their stories live on stage! Held at Wild Goose Creative's warm, intimate space, this night of tales occurs on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Doors open at 7:00 pm, show starts at 7:30 pm. Please arrive early if you want to tell, as we generally only have room for a limited number of tellers, and the sign-up sheet has a tendency to fill up fast.
Formed around the idea that people need stories--they're what hold and draw us together--SpeakEasy celebrates the strangeness and commonness of being human. And in a world of smartphones, Facebook, Twitter, and more . . . it gives people a real, breathing, in-person way to connect.
The night is geared for true stories of all kinds, taking the best tales told around kitchen tables, in darkened pubs, on the street corner, and at late-night parties and giving them an audience. Speak Easy is also a great outlet for performers, writers, and artists looking to share their favorite stories and perfect their skills. We strongly encourage tellers to please tell the story rather than read it so we keep within the spirit of good storytelling and stay engaged with the audience. All are welcome. Hang around after the show for a drink and build community!
